Guide to custom logos, caps and jersey colors and textures in OOTP
This is going to be part of the new manual released with the new patch, but here it is in the mean time. I wrote this based on my own experience customizing the game, so if something is wrong, i'll correct in in time for the patch release. Also have on mind that English is not my main language so be permissive with my possible grammar mistakes
![]() If you have any related question, use also this thread to keep the questions/answers centralized and I'll try to help you. Customize logos, caps and jersey colors and textures in OOTP You can create your own custom team logos, caps logos, jerseys logos and also the jerseys and caps textures. You can use any photo editing or drawing software to create them. - Creating/editing the teams logos: The teams logos can have any size as the game will auto resize them when used (I would recommend 150x150 pixels), with a transparent background. If you are using logos or images from a website for example, you will need to resize them to the proper size and to use your preferred image editing software to remove the background, to make it transparent. Once done, save the image with the .png image format or with the .jpg image format. If your editing software supports .png or .jpg images, you should see that option when you “Save as” your images. The .png format is preferred as it allows transparent backgrounds while the .jpg doesn’t, so the .png mages will look better in the game. - Naming and placing the team logos to be auto imported by the game: If you want your team logos used only in a single game, you must place them in the the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\saved_games\ league-folder.lg/news/html/images. The text red colored in the above path will change on every computer, depending on where you installed the game, under which windows user and the saved game name. If you want your team logos used by every new game, you must place them in the the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\logos. Again, the text red colored in the above path will change on every computer, depending on where you installed the game, under which windows user and the saved game name. The team logos will be searched in the folder …/league-folder.lg/news/html/images first. It will be looked for a file named like Team_name_Nick_name*.png first, then Team_name_Nick_name*.jpg, then Nick_name*.png and Nick_name*.jpg. With reagards the Mac users it's important to use the same capitalization as in the game, since the Mac file system is case sensitive. If no logo file is found, OOTP will search the file in the new folder …/data/logos. If there's no file there either, OOTP will generate a fictional logo. The * means that the file name only has to start with these names. It might contain more info. I.e. the team colors: background, text and secondary colors in HTML HEX or RGB code. The file name might look like this: Cannibals_000000_FFFFFF_sometext.png. (using HTML HEX code conventions) In this case, the team background color will be R = 00, G = 00, B = 00 (Black). The team text color will be R=FF, G=FF, B=FF (White). And the "sometext" will be ignored. Cannibals_0000000_255255255_sometext.png. (using RGB code conventions) In this case, the team background color will be R = 000, G = 000, B = 000 (Black) (RGB as in Red/Green/Blue is a color code used by many imaging programs). The team text color will be R=255, G=255, B=255 (White). And the "sometext" will be ignored. So now you can just put logo files into the …/logos folder with the proper naming, and whenever a team gets the nickname "Cannibals", it will get this logo and the colors (Black background and White text in this example) will be auto assigned to that team. Or you can name the logo file using the complete team name plus nickname and the same colors as the real team has, put it into that folder, and every time when you create a league with that team name and nickname, it will automatically use the real logo and colors. - Creating/editing the caps logos: The caps logos can have any size as the game will auto resize them when used (I would recommend 150x150 pixels), with a transparent background. Here you got a sample of a cap logo template: 1- Standard logo in the middle of the cap: ![]() - Naming and placing the caps logos to be auto imported by the game: If you want your team logos used only in a single game, you must place them in the the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\saved_games\ league-folder.lg\ballcaps. The text red colored in the above path will change on every computer, depending on where you installed the game, under which windows user and the saved game name. If you want your team logos used by every new game, you must place them in the the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\ballcaps. Again, the text red colored in the above path will change on every computer, depending on where you installed the game, under which windows user and the saved game name. The cap logos will be searched in the folder …\league-folder.lg\ballcaps first. It will be looked for a file named like caps_logo_Team_name_Nick_name*.png first, then caps_logo_Team_name_Nick_name*.jpg, then caps_logo_Nick_name*.png and caps_logo_Nick_name*.jpg. With reagards the Mac users it's important to use the same capitalization as in the game, since the Mac file system is case sensitive. If no logo file is found, OOTP will search the file in the new folder …\data\ballcaps. If there's no file there either, OOTP will generate a fictional logo. The * means that the file name only has to start with these names. It might contain more info. I.e. the caps colors: main and visor in HTML HEX or RGB code. The file name might look like this: caps_logo_Cannibals_000000_FFFFFF_sometext.png. (using HTML HEX code conventions) In this case, the cap main color will be R = 00, G = 00, B = 00 (Black). The cap visor color will be R=FF, G=FF, B=FF (White). And the "sometext" will be ignored. caps_logo_ Cannibals_000000000_255255255_sometext.png. (using RGB code conventions) In this case, the cap main color will be R = 000, G =000, B = 000 (Black) (RGB as in Red/Green/Blue is a color code used by many imaging programs). The cap visor color will be R=255, G=255, B=255 (White). And the "sometext" will be ignored. Or you can name the cap logo file using the complete team name plus nickname and the same colors as the real team has, put it into that folder, and every time when you create a league with that team name and nickname, it will automatically use that cap logo and colors. - Creating/editing the jerseys logos: The jerseys logos can have any size as the game will auto resize them when used (I would recommend 150x150 pixels), with a transparent background. If you are using logos or images from a website for example, you will need to resize them to the proper size and to use your preferred image editing software to remove the background, to make it transparent. The .png format is preferred as it allows transparent backgrounds while the .jpg doesn’t, so the .png mages will look better in the game. Here you got two samples of jerseys logos templates: 1- Standard text in the middle of the chest ![]() 2- Logo in the heart side of the chest ![]() - Naming and placing the jerseys logos to be auto imported by the game: If you want your jersey templates used only in a single game, you must place them in the the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\saved_games\league-folder.lg\jerseys. The text red colored in the above path will change on every computer, depending on where you installed the game, under which windows user and the saved game name. If you want your jersey templates used by every new game, you must place them in the the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\jerseys. Again, the text red colored in the above path will change on every computer, depending on where you installed the game, under which windows user and the saved game name. The jersey logos will be searched in the folder …\league-folder.lg\jerseys first. It will be looked for a file named like jerseys_logo_Team_name_Nick_name*.png first, then jerseys_logo_Team_name_Nick_name*.jpg, then jerseys_logo_Nick_name*.png and jerseys_logo_Nick_name*.jpg. With regards the Mac users it's important to use the same capitalization as in the game, since the Mac file system is case sensitive. If no logo file is found, OOTP will search the file in the new folder …\data\jerseys. If there's no file there either, OOTP will generate a fictional logo. The * means that the file name only has to start with these names. It might contain more info. I.e. the jerseys colors: main, secondary and pin stripes in HTML HEX or RGB code. The file name might look like this: jerseys_logo_Cannibals_FFFFFF_000000_000000F_somet ext.png. (using HTML HEX code conventions) In this case, the jersey main color will be R = FF, G = FF, B = FF (White). The jersey secondary color will be R=00, G=00, B=00 (Black). The jersey pin stripes color will be R=00, G=00, B=00 (Black). And the "sometext" will be ignored. jerseys_logo_ Cannibals_255255255_0000000_0000000_sometext.png. (using RGB code conventions) In this case, the jersey main color will be R = 255, G = 255, B = 255 (White) (RGB as in Red/Green/Blue is a color code used by many imaging programs). The jersey secondary color will be R=000, G=000, B=000 (Black). The jersey pin stripes color will be R=000, G=000, B=000 (Black). And the "sometext" will be ignored. So now you can just put jersey logo files into the /jerseys folder with the proper naming, and whenever a team gets the nickname "Cannibals", it will get this jersey logo and the jersey main, jersey secondary and jersey pin stripes colors (white jersey with black undershirt and black pin stripes in this example) will be auto assigned to that team. Or you can name the jersey logo file using the complete team name plus nickname and the same colors as the real team has, put it into that folder, and every time when you create a league with that team name and nickname, it will automatically use that jersey logo and colors. - Creating/editing and placing the ballcaps textures: Whenever a ballcap is "painted" for the first time after loading the database, the game creates a texture for the baseball caps of that team. The textures are based on the file default_ballcap_texture.png, which you can find in the folder \data\ballcaps. Don't change that file! If you want to create customized textures for certain teams, do the following: - locate the folder …\data\ballcaps (usually located in C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\ballcaps) - copy the file default_ballcap_texture.png which you can find in that folder - rename the copy to caps_ + team name + underline + team nickname + .png Remove all dots in the team name and nickname, and replace all spaces with underlines. - edit the file as you like with your preferred images editing software. This file will then be used "globally" for each team with that name and nickname, for any new database. There is a folder /ballcaps in each saved league folder, too. To define a ballcap texture for a team on saved league level, you must place the file in that folder. When the game looks for a texture, it will first look in the saved game folder and use a file if it exists. If there is no file, it will look into the "global" folder /data/ballcaps. If there is a file, it will be copied into the database folder and used from there in the future! If no file is found at all, OOTP will load the file /data/ballcaps/baseball_cap_base.png and will"paint" the texture using the team colors. This is a default ballcap texture, the red area will be colored with the ballcap main color and the blue and green areas will be colored with the ballcap secondary color that you can specify in the team logos and colors options screen or in the jersey logo name. ![]() The 5 five segments are used as followed: 1. top left: the lower side of the visor 2. below that the front part of the cap 3. right of that the upper side of the visor 4. the two parts at the bottom are the right and left side of the cap, which together also form the back of the cap 5. the circle is the knob on top of the cap - Creating/editing and placing the jerseys textures: Whenever a jersey is "painted" for the first time after loading the database, the game creates a texture for the jersey of that team. The textures are based on the default files that you can find in the folder \data\jerseys. Don't change those files! The default jerseys textures included with the game are: default_jersey_1_Standard.png (One color jersey with a secondary color undershirt) default_jersey_2_Single lined.png (One color jersey with a secondary color undershirt and a colored pinstripe) default_jersey_3_Double lined.png (One color jersey with a secondary color undershirt and a two colored pinstripes) default_jersey_4_Stripes.png(One color jersey with a secondary color undershirt and colored pinstripes) If you want to create customized textures for certain teams, do the following: - locate the folder …\data\jerseys (usually located in C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\jerseys) - copy the default jersey texture file that you want to edit which you can find in that folder. - rename the copy to jerseys_ + team name + underline + team nickname + .png Remove all dots in the team name and nickname, and replace all spaces with underlines. - edit the file as you like with your preferred images editing software. This file will then be used "globally" for each team with that name and nickname, for any new database. There is a folder /jerseys in each saved league folder, too. To define a jersey texture for a team on saved league level, you must place the file in that folder. When the game looks for a texture, it will first look in the saved game folder and use a file if it exists. If there is no file, it will look into the "global" folder /data/jerseys. If there is a file, it will be copied into the database folder and used from there in the future! If no file is found at all, OOTP will load the file /data/jerseys/default_jersey_1_Standard.png and will "paint" the texture using the team colors. This is a default jersey texture, the green area will be colored with the jersey main color and the blue area will be colored with the jersey secondary color that you can specify in the team logos and colors options screen or in the jersey logo name. ![]() This is a default jersey texture with a single pin stripe. The green area will be colored with the jersey main color, the blue area will be colored with the jersey secondary color and the red area will be colored with the jersey pinstripes color that you can specify in the team logos and colors options screen or in the jersey logo name. ![]() Editing the OOTP game skins and images The OOTP skins are located in: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ (the red text can change in every computer depending on where do you have the game installed). Editing a skin or creating a new one it’s a huge and difficult task that should only be attempted by graphics designers with experience, as you would need to edit and replace thousands of images, but here you have some tips to easily edit some images displayed in the game screens. Remember to always backup first the images that you are going to replace and note that doing anything wrong like deleting images or having a mistake with the sizes or names used in the images could lead to problems like crashes, images not being displayed correctly etc so be careful when doing it. - Editing the game background: The default one is: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\background.jpg It’s a 1024x768 pixels jpg image and you can replace it with any image with the .jpg format and with the same size. Replacing it would add your own custom background used in most of the game screens. - Editing the starting menu game background: The default one is: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\bg_startscreen.png It’s a 1024x768 pixels png image and you can replace it with any image with the .png format and with the same size. Replacing it would add your own custom background used in the game main menu starting screen. - Editing default game photo: The default one is: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\default_player_photo.jpg This image is used in some screens when a player has no photo. It’s a 90x135 pixels image and you can replace it with any image with the .jpg format and with the same size. - Editing the SION logo: The default one is: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\sion.png It’s a 100x70 pixels png image and you can replace it with any image with the .png format and with the same size. Replacing it would add your own custom image instead of the SION one in the screens where it appears. - Editing the league champion trophy: The default one is: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\trophy.png It’s a 300x400 pixels png image and you can replace it with any image with the .png format and with the same size. Replacing it would add your own custom image instead of the league champion trophy one in the screens where it appears (when you win a championship). - Editing the league champion trophy: The default one is: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\trophy_background.png It’s a 550x550 pixels jpg image and you can replace it with any image with the .png format and with the same size. Replacing it would display your own custom background image instead of the league champion trophy background one in the screens where it appears (when you win a championship). It will appear under the trophy image. - Editing the stars used by the game to display the ratings overall and potentials: The default ones are: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\star_gold.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\star_half_gold.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\star_silver.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\ star_half_silver.png All those images have a 30x30 pixels size and can be replaced by any .png image with a transparent background. Replacing them would display your own stars or half stars for the overall and potentials ratings for both prospects (silver) and veterans (gold). - Editing the morale icons: The default ones are: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_mood_angry.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_mood_good.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_mood_great.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_mood_undecided.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_mood_unhappy.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_mood_very_good.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_mood_very_unhappy.png All those images have a 16x16 pixels size and can be replaced by any .png image with a transparent background. Replacing them would display your own icons for the players morale displayed in the roster screens. - Editing the status icons: The default ones are: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_status_cold.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_status_hot.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_status_injured.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_status_dtd.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_status_tired.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\player_status_exhausted.png All those images have a 18x18 pixels size and can be replaced by any .png image with a transparent background. Replacing them would display your own icons for the players status displayed in the roster screens. - Editing the batter images in the webcast game screen: The default ones are: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\batter_left.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\batter_right.png Are 67x200 pixels png images and you can replace it with any image with the .png format and with the same size. Replacing them would add your own custom images instead of the batter (right and left) one in the webcast game screen. - Editing the ball images in the webcast game screen (fault, strike, ball and hit): The default ones are: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\ball_green.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\ball_orange.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\ball_red.png C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\skins\ootp blue 2007\images\ball_blue.png All those are 16x16 pixels png images and you can replace it with any image with the .png format and with the same size. Replacing them would add your own custom images instead of the balls (fault, strike, ball and hit) ones in the webcast game screen. Last edited by Icy; 03-26-2007 at 07:38 PM. |

I might be me misunderstanding something, but it seems as if the help files for jerseys is messed up, as it the copy of it above in the first post. In the section for jersey information, I believe that the word "jersey" should be substituted for the word "cap" in many of the examples. At least I think so...

![]() But, luckily, sincy Icy wrote this great stuff, it don't really matter much, do it? The poor customization community always gets the short end of the stick. By the time the game launches, I'm so burnt out on writing that I can't seem to find the energy to work on this!
