text to excel
is there a way to open the text files in excel so they are easier to work with?? Sorry, not a big computer whiz.

Sure.
Start Excel. Open-->Files Change "Files of type" to text files, then open the file you want It will bring up a "text import wizard", page 1 of 3 Page 1 will default to "delimited", thats OK, hit "next" button Page 2 you need to change "tab" to "comma", then hit finish Edit away...but when you're done-- You need to change it back, that's easy too. save your file as a .csv: Save as-->change "Files of type" to .csv, save You file have a .csv suffix, ie "names.csv" Just rename it to "names.txt" and you're done |
