Importing Roster Issue
I'm having issues with overall and potential ratings when I'm use Icy's 2007 template and import Cubby's latest rosters (2007 beta). I first converted Cubby's rosters to a 2007 game within OOTP. In there I exported rosters and exported stats. I got the 4 txt files from that. I then create a new game using Icy's template. I choose NOT to hold an inaugural draft so that all the fictional players that the game automatically creates get put on teams or in the free agent pool. I then start the game and go to "Release all players/Clear rosters" so everyone goes in the free agent pool. I then go in as commish and delete everyone in the free agent pool. This is the only way I've found to get rid of all the free agents. I then go back into game setup and import my roster txt file I exported from Cubby. All the guys go into the teams fine with correct ratings except their potential and overall ratings. Most everyone is a 78-80. How do I get the potential and overall to be the correct values?

More odd things about this...
When I go to database info it says I only have 323 players in my database. However every team is filled and all their Minors. If I go "Show All Players" screen, nobody shows up. If I search for someone like Pujols it comes up with nobody. If I go to the St. Louis Cardinals team he is there. Maybe this should go under tech support or something but I don't know if it's me or the game that's messed up. I've tried this about a half a dozen times and I can't get it to work. Edit: I think the only players that are in my database are in my HS feeder league. I have no clue why. Last edited by neojonas; 03-23-2007 at 12:07 AM. |

Moved to proper location. Also copy info and repost in the 2007 Mods area as well.

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum.
I finally figured out a successful workaround to import a roster txt files into a template. Doing the same thing I was doing in post 1 except when you put all the fictional guys on the free agent pool do not delete them. That is the key. At that point while they are all on the free agent pool you need to go and import the rosters which will fill up the teams correctly. After that go to the free agent pool in commish mode and delete everyone there. Unfortunately it deletes the real players Cubby had in the free agent pool. I don't know how to get around that at this point. Doing this method actually rates everyone's potential/overall correctly, the database info page has over 5000 players listed like it said it would and everything works correctly. There still seems like there's a bug here though. |

Neo,
Do you think you're all set on this? We've seen a lot of problems with games converted from 2006 roster sets so far, and given all of the strange steps you're doing, I'm not sure if we can track down a bug here. If at all possible, I'd recommend starting with a new game in 2007, or one of the 2007 roster sets when they come out... Anyway, just a thought. We can leave this open if you want, but as you can probably see, there's a pretty high volume right now, so I'm going to hop over to some other threads since you seem to have gotten around the issue! |

Sorry battists...I missed that you replied to my issue in this thread. While I found sort of a work around I still believe there might be a bug out there for this. Here's an easy way to recreate the bug. Create a fictional league using Icy's template (I'm not sure if it's required that you use his or not). Put all the fictional players in free agency so you can then go and delete them. Now you have a fictional league with no players. Now import a txt roster that you've exported from a quickstart like Cubby's. Most of the players have ratings at about 78-80 out of 80. Something is getting messed up when you delete all players and import real ones. I'm not sure if this is just a little minor bug that could be ignored. I just wanted to let y'all know in case it helps.

I think part of the issue here is that the "import rosters" feature really isn't intended to import players from a completely different saved game, and really hasn't been tested to do that.
I'm fairly certain that this causes problems with the referential integrity in the database, and so forth. It's really only intended to export your current rosters, in case you'd like to make modifications en masse. Does that make sense? |
