I tried importing an '06 league, and its frozen on message1221.txt, if that means anything.

Let it continue, it probably just hanged but processed properly on the background. Importing takes a while when there are a lot of files...

A much faster work around is to copy the entire league file from your 2006 "saved_games" folder into the same folder in the 2007 directory. This is now found under "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data" by default.

You will find that this works much faster than using the in-game converter.

This is NOT recommended! Lots of new options do not get their proper default values that way!

I was wondering if that wouldn't by-pass some of the import features and options, thanks for clarifying.

I noticed this 'cosmetic freeze' will happen if you do other tasks on your computer while Importing. As Markus said, it still should be processing properly in the background. But, I find it best to leave the computer be until the Importing has finished.

I have found during testing that the import of a 2006 lg is very lengthy. It is something that I start and then go do something else.

bgst,

Please report back later, we're anxious to know how it turned out. The size and amount of history in your league are a huge factor in the time this takes, not to mention your computer itself.

That dialogue is definitely less responsive than it should be... if you alt-tab away or anything during the process, the list of files stops updating and the game looks like it's frozen (though it hasn't).

I logged this earlier today as TT#2961 based on a similar complaint made on another forum.

I'm going to leave this here until we hear back from metsfan as to whether the process eventually completed. If it does complete successfully, then I'll move this to Logged Issues under the idea that the dialog needs to be more responsive. I just want to make sure the import completes first, tho'.

Is there a rule of thumb over how long I should expect? For instance I noted the problem too this morning when I tried to convert a league. The league is about 18.6 mb's in size. If I try to convert it roughly how long will that take?

I can't tell you how large our online league is, but we have 11 seasons in it, including a full one under OOTP 2006. At lunch we converted it, and it took about 20 minutes. (Depends on hardware, I'm sure, so ymmv.)

It does get hung on a message txt file, but you just have to be patient.

I'm running a PIII800, so everything is fairly old. A league of 25 years took my computer 46 minutes to finish importing. Some sort of bench mark at least...

I killed it twice earlier, you never get focus back on the game if you alt-tab off to something else, until the game finishes the import.

Probably the wisest course of action. I used my PC minimally while converting and it was still over an hour long for not quite 2GB of a 2006 League.

The second time I tried this in testing, I started it, then went to Arby's. It worked, but I have no idea how long it took. It's a lot of data.

I agree, I tested this specifically yesterday because some ppl in one of the leagues I am in was concerned. It does seem to "hang" but in reality it is working behind the scenes. IIRC it "froze" for nearly 10 minutes and I almost TT'ed it but just as I was to manually quit the app in the Task Manageer it unfroze and finished the import.

2GB is alot of data to convert. If you have alot of messages you might want to delete them before you convert. It might speed up the process (note I have not tested this specifically and it is just a theory).

Same thing happened to me... locked up twice while importing a 2006 league file because I was working on other things. I left it alone for about 15 minutes and it went through fine.

Well it was a very large set of leagues...I probably should tweak it some. I was just simming it for some insight in how things would run in certain financial settings. Probably have some junk from the computer managers that slowed it down.
