Trading deadline problem

I'm new to this game and have looked if anyone else has had the same issue but I can't find it. I'm playing a league which I shortened to 81 games per season. Once the trading deadline has passed in the first season, I have not been able to make trades since- and I'm currently at the opening day for season two. When I go to the "player trade" screen all I get is trading deadline has passed. The other problem is something I just might not know how to do..... I have several members of my minor leagues staff that have left and I have no idea how to replace them.... when I go to the available personnel screen all I'm able to do is put them on a shortlist and not offer the jobs.
