Ammy draft question
I read in one of the blogs that the ammy draft list can be viewable as early as ~opening day. Will the draftees on the ammy list have static stats all season or will we be able to watch their stats accumulate?
SOrry, I know this is a bit nit picky but I'm curious.

If it's just a "normal amateur draft" they won't accumulate or change. |

This hadn't even occurred to me, but thats another plus of feeder leagues, assuming this is true. If this is the case, lets assume we are running a league with feeders and with scouting turned off. Is it reasonable to assume that players can actually develop prior to the draft? I.e - maybe prospect X is looking like a stud pre-season, but plays poorly and his ratings don't appreciate, while prospect Y looked very solid, maybe mid-first round caliber, but really starts lighting it up, and his ratings improve, as does his "draft stock". Is this the case? If so that would be a huge improvement over the old way.

Without feeder leagues, the game is basically creating a batch of static players on the "draft pool release date." These players won't change at all up to the draft. With a feeder league, the feeder league is filled with "live" players who are playing, improving, failing, potentially getting injured, etc. In this case, you can think of the draft pool release date as just that - the list of players who have declared for the draft. |

dola,
For what it's worth, the main purpose of the ability to change the draft pool release date is for online leagues. In online leagues, you often need more than a month of "game time" to work out your draft. This gives online leagues added flexibility in that regard. There's no particular need to play with that option if you're playing solo. |

Well, even with feeder leagues, you still have a "draft pool" announcement, just as in the real world, you can scout college players all you want, but there's a point after which it's set in stone who is eligible for the draft.

To piggy back Battist, yes, you can still use feeder leagues, and those players will be in the draft pool. Now you will be able to draft players who already have stats, its AWESOME! You'll have to pay attention, and make sure you have enough feeder league teams so that you don't have "game created" players showing up in your draft.

Ok the whole feeder league thing aparently slipped by me. Is there a thread with a more detailed description of the feature?

Do feeder leagues have any application for historical leagues?

If that's the case, then an online league could set it up that way and you'd be able to scout these players for quite some time rather than only from opening day on. |

this may not be ideal for online leagues, considering the file size issues.

If I want a 10 round draft for a 30 team league, I need 300 players minimum. So I create a feeder league with 30 teams also, or two feeder leagues with 15 teams each. I don't see it being much of an issue unless you want to run a league with a lot of teams and/or draft rounds. A league with just 12 teams would not be difficult at all. |
