Does the USBL bear a striking resemblence to iMLB, or is it just me?

Speaking of the iMLB, the website is fairly outdated... did the league ever begin play?

Was talking to Ken about a month ago. He got delayed with personal problems but says the league will get off the ground this fall at the latest.

I agree, they look way too similar. The same format and placement of everything--the text below the "Sim Schedule" chart uses the same wording, and the menus are in the same order. Hopefully, there may be an explanation, like one gave permission to the other to use a similar site, or something like that.

All right, judging from Rush22's smilies/sarcasm, I'm missing something
what's going on?

Yea, it's pretty obvious it is the exact same web site design. It's like a situation that happened a couple months ago where a guy took Cooley's web pages from HBL and directly copied them as his own without any permission or acknowledgement. Perhaps the guys that run these leagues are partners or something; I don't know either one of them.

Anyways... i'm the owner of the USBL...
I dunno if you have looked around, but about 10 other leagues has used the same site setup. The site was linked to me by a friend, and to prevent much time editing the setup, i made some alterations, and created my own league. People leave things on many things, and on the site, I left off many things. It's not like i'm tring to hid the league from others, but I'm tring to make the league unlike others. Please remember that this is only my 2nd OOTP4 league, and I'm tring to make this better then the XBL. (Still dunno why Steve still havent changed my s/n, after i asked to get it changed about 3 days ago) I don't mean to steal anything. BTW, due to server problems, that site will be shut down, and i'm tring to find a good web server to fit my needs. So... to the iMLB commish (wherever he may be)...i'm sorry.

Some examples
http://balltwo.netfirms.com/ http://www.bbl.ootp-leagues.com/ http://bbdl.ootp-leagues.com/bbdl/bbdl.htm http://www.tqbl.ootp-leagues.com/ My conclusion is... do NOT critizise me for something that other commissioners does, without yelling at them. I end it there

Alright, everyone needs to give the guy a break. The league he has created is an awesome one, and it shouldn't matter about the website. I'm not sure everyone knows how hard and time consuming it can be to create a league. It takes time and effort. So i think we should be a little more understanding with the fact that he was just trying to save time, so he could devote more of his time to the league (which is going to be awesome, by the way).
Please calm down about this and try to be nicer in the future, as we are all playing for the same purpose: to have fun! Fanzerpaust |

Who gives a damn
First of all, I must agree with my man fanzer. I mean we all are to have fun, am I right. You can go ahead and criticize all you want. But what good does it do for you?!? What do you get out of it by criticizing? I'm not trying to make all of you enemies or anything, but trying to make you get a different look at things. I've been in many leagues here and I've seen many leagues who have the same set-up as well.
As far as this one goes, yes it does copy the iMLB setup. But I know the commish, and he didn't intend to compete with the iMLB (which we both know is gonna be a great league). Is he a thief? I think not. Thiefs steal and intend it to be secret. If he is a thief, as u say he is, why would he post his website? No, you people probably don't understand. Or maybe u should look at it a different perspective. If someone were to borrow my design, I wouldn't be sour about it. I mean, if someone uses my setup, then I'd take that as a compliment to how I can setup a site. He WILL...and I stress WILL give credit to iMLB site saying he did use the setup. Have a heart. Give him some slack. Baseball is meant to be fun. Not to be a political discussion. The site will change time to time. It won't still have the iMLB stuff on it for long. The iMLB is gonna be a great league. The USBL is gonna be one as well. If anything...the iMLB commishes or owners should be the one complaining. But so far I haven't noticed that. The iMLB commish should not be complaining. He took our html code and changed the images and colors. All without asking for it like a few other. Too bad because we let everyone who ask to use it.

I have also seen several leagues with similar web sites. And I have also seen several leagues with original sites.
I think the issue here, and with all situations like this, is was permission to use the site asked for and granted. If not, its an issue for the site owners to resolve. If you asked for permission and it was granted, no problem. A small note somewhere on the site may help avoid uproars like this. If you didn't ask for permission, or permission was not granted, just create your own original site and don't copy others. I think its as simple as that. Dave

The reason I want someone to e-mail Ken or at least relay my message to him is that I cant get to my e-mail right now at work and since the league is getting publicized now I want to get a team before it is too late !!
Thanks Scott |
