If a fielder is injured making the last out of an inning....

let's say a fielder is injured while making the last out of an inning. especially if its a later inning, like say the 7th, and is a very low score game, tied at 1-1. Lets also say that fielder would be the 4 batter up if he hadn't been injured. i would rather see if that spot gets the chance to hit and create a potential run so i can bring in the proper hitter, rather than have a crappy hitter who would replace the injured person in the field the following inning.

i guess my problem is that i couldnt find a ruling on this anywhere in the official rules on the mlb page, so im guessing that in real life a player does not have to be announced until either that spot in the batting order is up or the next time the team takes the field.

however, in ootp they force you to make the decision right away.

i dunno if this was a previous thread or not, i searched for it, but couldnt find it anywhere. any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks
