I'm not sure how but the thread that we had going a few weeks ago about a league made up of celebrities, stars, etc got messed up and I could not recover it. So I am starting this one to replace it.
Lets keep the ideas flowing...

Thanks Steve, anyway keep the ideas coming as I'm now over half way done with the players and pictures. I need ideas for about 5 more teams or so. So far I have actors, athletes, and musicians covered. I have a plan to have an all cartoon team, an all presidents team, and an all hall of fame baseball, football, hockey and basketball as so far I only have current athletes from those sports and since this is a sports game I feel most of the teams should be made up of athletes.

Did somebody already cover the idea of having Geena Davis at catcher and putting Madona and Rosie O'Donnel in the outfield?

What about people who take BP or compete in ALL Star activities like Garth Brooks, Kevin Costner & Peyton Manning?
There are alot of celebrities or other sports stars that do things with Major League Teams... That would be really cool |

He was, if memory serves, also the father of journeyman OF Curtis Pride. And then there's Chuck "The Rifleman" Connors. Wonder if there's enough guys who actually toyed with a pro baseball career but later starred in some other medium to make up a team of their own? Could their expertise provide a Yankee-like dynasty? |

In the spirit of things, what about an all Star-Wars team?

What about Kevin Costner as a pitcher (Billy Chapel) as he was in For The Love of the Game or Robert Redford (Roy Hobbs).

I think a baseball movie team could get done, but a lot of the players are already on teams for being an actor. Would it be ok if there is a Willie Mays Hays and a Wesley Snipes or not?

And, of course, the Twins would be managed by Billy Haywood.

Two Minor Points:
Charlie Pride is NOT the father of former major leager Curtis Pride. And if I'm not mistaken Chuck "The Rifleman" Conners did play briefly in the majors, or at least he was in the minors with the Dodgers I believe. DMN

Kurt Russell was a minor leaguer as well, and aparently a good one. He liked baseball more than acting (he was doing disney movies back then). He injured himself tho, and his baseball career ended prematurely, so he went with acting as a career instead.
edit- just found this: <a href="http://www.baseball-almanac.com/minor-league/minor2002a.shtml" target="_blank">www.baseball-almanac.com/minor-league/minor2002a.shtml</a> <small>[ 05-15-2002, 04:51 PM: Message edited by: fluharty ]</small> |
