Home Plate Baseball League thread

Hello all!

The Home Plate Baseball League (http://www.hpblbaseball.com), an OOTP 6.5 online league that is always looking for someone to join a very active and outgoing online league. We've been around since March 2004 in one form or another, so we have longevity and interest in making this league work long term.

This league is nowhere near the usual run-of-the-mill online league that many have been a custom to. Here are some of those reasons:
  • BOSI Database
  • CATO Database
  • Custom Financial system. We use a revenue sharing, payroll expenses cap (not to be confused with a salary cap), our own three-tiered cash cap that is based on revenue from the previous season and a luxury tax system - all of these do that does what we want to achieve, keep the league competitive, give the small market teams the ability to make competitive moves, and let the large market teams be able to spend (with a cost).
  • Franchise Player System
  • Active owner base
  • Full and small league files for your Internet connection taste. The full league file is 14.12 MB and the small league file is 4.25 MB (as of Sunday's sim)
  • All new rules are voted by the league owners.

If you are interested in joining the league (if we have an opening) or join the waiting list, you are welcome to send an e-mail to raderick24@cox.net or create a post on the Non-Owners Forum.

The HPBL has two openings:

St. Louis Cardinals
Philadelphia Phillies

Both teams are underachieving. They can use a GM to break them out of ther slumps and contend for a playoff spot.

I have interest in the Cards. I was the old Seattle GM before the commish swap. Once you left, I didn't like the direction the league went (new site, new rules, yadda yadda yadda) and dropped out. Glad to see your back into OOTP as you were one of the better commishs around.

Hey all!

The Houston Astros are now available. They currently lead the National League Central by just half a game from the Chicago Cubs.

If you are interested in joining, the information is above!

The HPBL has completed the 2007 regular season, and we currently have three openings:

Oakland Athletics - The 2006 World Champions, in the 2007, the season was short of their high expectations, though they did finish just above .500 in a very competitive AL West. This team is built around a scrapping offense with plenty of speed. Their weakness is in the starting rotation and the lack of bench depth

St. Louis Cardinals - From the rotation to the starting line-up and to the front office, this team has struggled to get anything going and fell near the bottom of the National League Central. This team has also had a revolving door of poor ownership so it needs that one person to steer them back to it's winning ways.

Kansas City Royals - Don't let their stats fool you, they are a very tough bunch. They have been in the middle of the playoff races since last season and has yet to budge. They did win the Wild Card and will play the 2006 and 2007 AL East Champions Baltimore Orioles in the divisional series. **Please note that since this team is in the post-season, we will not assign an owner for this team until either they are eliminated from post-season play or at the end of the post-season (whichever comes first). If you want to apply for this team for the near future, you are free to do so.**

The HPBL has filled the Florida Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals GM positions. We have one opening remaining for the Cleveland Indians.

The HPBL has completed its 3rd season of play, and we have two openings to report:

Boston Red Sox: The vast majority of players on the major league roster is 31 years old or older with a minor league system that is depleted. This team is great if you're looking for a rebuilding project.

Cleveland Indians: Here is a team that has a great mix of young talent and established veterans. THey were two games out of the AL Central at season's end.

If you're interested in either team, your avenues are above!

The easy part is them sending me e-mails. The hard part is for them to reply to my e-mails.
