Too easy to be good? Regarding free agents, trades

This mainly goes for Free Agents..in the 2007 offseason using cubbyfans rosters I was able to sign barry zito, carlos lee pretty easily. I also got good players like aubrey huff who only wanted 900,000 dollar when he is rated the same as other player who wants more more. Perhaps its jsut his charachter fine.

Also before the offseason, i was able to get Jake peavy and brian giles for just some prospects (lasting milliedge, petit). My team seems dominant with:

Am i right/wrong about my team for the most part? Also, is there a way to make it more realisitic or just to stop making these moves on my own (so attempting when i CAN do it)
**My current team payroll is 130 million. Yankees are already over 200 million and they gave mosious alou rated like a 58-60 whose old 20 million dollars per year for 2 years..what the heck?

Starters: (overall rating)
1) Pedro 65
2) Peavy 66
3) Zito 63
4) Glavine 60
5) Heilman 57

Line-Up
1. Reyes 66
2. Giles 67
3. Beltran 77
4. Delgado 63
5. Wright 74
6. Carlos Lee 66
7. Keppinger 51
8. Lo Duca 50

I thought the same thing about my lineup, but a couple of injuries happened
& now I'm a .500 ball club again...

I got two free agents with contracts around 15 mil a year in the offseason. One a SP, the other a SS.I had two 80/80 hitters and a decent pitching staff. I had no real weakness except maybe a reliever or two. I Only won 88 games.....

No matter what you do in Free Agency, you can't always win. Especially when the guys get old, start to suck and the Computer says "I won't accept vastly overpaid veterans". Had that happen a couple times and I was screwed over with a crappy guy with a 5+ mil contract.

Implement a salary cap.

My big complaint is the same as with 6.5 - the computer doesn't know how to use waivers correctly. At least with 6.5 the computer Ai would grab a good player from the waiver wire occasionally but in my 1985-lahman import league I've grabbed Mark Portugal, Rafael Palmiero and Paul O'Neal from the waiver wire. None of the other AI managers even made an attempt to claim them.

O'Neal won ROY the next year.

With the cap there's no way I'll be able to hang onto them but I'm going to enjoy having a competitive Royals team for a few years!
