Question regarding Lahman...

I would like to create a league with fictional teams and real players. I believe I have found out how to do this, however, I have a concern regarding players and lahman's database...

there are fields in the master.csv file name "debut" and "last game". Does this mean that my players will retire based on the "last game" date? and is there a way to have a player put in before their "debut" ie. Icrihro?

Players will not retire on their "last game". That has no impact on when players retire.

Also you can change a player's debut date in the master.csv if you want him to import with a different draft class.

Thanks for the info... one issue.

When I change the debut date to 1998 (I'm starting in 1999), than the player still does not import at the beginning of the league setup. Here's what I'm using:

Lahman 5.3 with OOTP 5
Changed Marcus Giles to debut 4/17/1998, and setup my historical league starting in 1999.

something I'm doing wrong?

when you changed his debut to 1998, did he have any batting stats that year?
I dont remember for sure but i think the game wont import if the guy has no stats. Like you could change Babe Ruth's debut to 1914-1935 but any other year might not work. Just my guess
