The market last year already showed some of the effect of how all the new media deals give MLB teams more money in the pocket and inflated the market. This year it's probably going to be even more inflated. Also the new CBA favors big spenders a bit more than the last CBA too.

That might be reasonable, except he didn't wanna play in Philly, he didn't wanna play in St. Louis, and now he doesn't wanna play in LA. You wanna talk about 3 totally different cities. If he didn't wanna play in any of those I'm not sure where he wants to play. Maybe he should head back to the Independant League. He's really one of the least likeable characters in baseball. |

I dont know if JD was like this coming out of FSU or it developed because of Boras. Personally I think Boras ruined what looked to be a really good career when he pulled the Independent league crap on Philly, it was really all downhill from there.
He never became what he could have been, he's been a nice player but not special. Taking a year off from high level competition and making a ton of enemies in the process really hurt him IMO. The responses he no doubt got from some of the players when he finally came into the league prolly had something to do with his his attitude. I think because of all the stuff he had to deal with because of what he and Boras pulled, he lost the love of the game. He can't be happy anywhere because I don't think he loves the game that I'm assuming he used to love.

He didn't want to play in Philly because they wouldn't pay him, and I don't recall him ever publicly wanting out of St. Louis. He was traded.

I didn't say Drew was in the right. Just pointing out that it wasn't because he didn't want to play in Philly. As an example, John Elway didn't want to play for the Colts. JD Drew wanted to get paid a lot. Two very distinctly different situations.

Now considering the 20% last year, and possible more inflation this year. Let's say JD Drew is a six win player, then 2m*(125%)*6=15m.

Even if there are no more inflation this year, and Drew is considered a 5 win player, he still would get 12m a year.
