Fla. International/Miami Brawl
Pretty ridiculous, with the thugs of Miami taking off helmets and swinging at players, while also stomping on players that laid on the ground. A couple of people were ejected and a 15 yard "unsportsmanlike" penalty was called, but I really think the NCAA should give both teams a loss in situations like this. Really, really, pathetic.

Just another example of the thugs in Miami.

I heard that when one Miami guy threw a punch, a crack rock fell out of Michael Irvin's pocket.

Terrible. ESPN article says the ejected players are expected to receive 1-gm suspensions each. Anyone else find that astoundingly lean?

Also, while I'm ranting, there was at least one case of a fight concurrently breaking out in the stands. What the hell is going through someone's head (or perhaps, blood) that simply seeing violence incites a need in you to pick some trouble of your own? (btw, the guy who took off his helment and used it as a weapon should not see another game at this level.) |

This just shows how far the Miami program has fallen. They used to start brawls with bitter rivals and fellow elite teams like Florida State. Now they get into brawls with Florida International. How pathetic is that?

"Whatever penalty is handed down, especially from us, we're going to make it the most severe," FIU Coach Don Strock said. "We don't condone that. It's embarrassing."
"This won't be a big negative on the University of Miami," Miami Coach Larry Coker said. "I'll put it that way." These two quotes explain the whole problem in my mind. |

I'm pretty sure Florida International started the fight. They aren't innocent in this, either.

I like in the articles how FIU is all apologetic and Miami is "they started it". Miami started crap here in Louisville to, of course we responded by stomping them.
On a different note, good to see Don Strock didn't know he was coaching college now. Last I remembered he as a Ravens assistant coach. Last edited by mh2365; 10-15-2006 at 09:36 AM. |

I'm trying to figure out what planet Larry Coker was on when he said this:
Quote:
Even if the team were undefeated and number one in the country, you'd have to consider moving Coker just based on that quote alone.

EDIT: Wow, new video on ESPN. After the brawl all the Miami players take their helmets off and get in a big group and do what looks like a pre-game cheer. Pathetic. Last edited by Sandy K; 10-15-2006 at 11:54 AM. |

Who the hell is the announcer? He should be fired.
#26 (red) should be in HUGE trouble for taking off his helmet and whipping someone with it. #19 (red) should be in HUGE trouble for stomping on someone's leg |

I only saw one player swinging a helmet and one player stomping on someone. The way the article is written it makes it sound like everyone and their mother on the field was doing that.
