Add player to team without going through FA

Is there a way to add a player to a team in the offseason without going through the FA .... I run a league and a player was suppose to be resigned to a team and he wasn't and the team doesn't have the funds to resign though FA ... is there a way I can get this player on the team through CSV files or anything please let me know ASAP

Go into the player editor screen. In the middle of the left-hand side of the screen there is a spot to assign the player to a new team. The good news is that you can use this trick to send players to the minors who wouldn't normally accept. The bad news is that they are placed on some "holding area" roster. In order to find them, you have to go to your team roster screen and select to show the Entire Organization instead of just Active Roster in order to view them. Then, by right-clicking, they can be assigned to a new team through the transaction menu. Probably needs tweaked next version.

oh I probably should have mentioned this was for 6.5 not 2006

Ahhhh...in that case, go into the league options screen. There is an option to Edit Free Agents (I think on the lower right-hand part of the page). From that screen, you can right-click to sign them to teams, bypassing free agency. I'm pretty sure this will work no matter what date you are on.

that doesn't work ... it just goes into something like the regular FA would be ro sign .. I went into the view/edit and turned the editor on but that doesn't do it either.

I found out I can do it after the offseason FA is over ... so I will try a few things

well the way I tried didn't really work .. so if anyone can find out a way to get a player on a team without having to pay Free Agency because he wasn't sidnged to an extension that would be great.

You can increase the team's cash, then make the signing and then edit the cash back down. That'll work.
