Interleague play not working

Hey all,
My fictional league has 2 sub-leagues, each with 2 divisions of 6 teams each. (So 24 teams total) I've just completed a 112 game season and was dismayed to see that, even though I had "Interleague Play" checked, no interleague games were scheduled. I found this thread -

but can't figure out what was decided/figured out.

PS. If it helps, I also had "Use Balanced Schedule Format" checked... if this might be the problem. Though reading the manual, it doesn't appear this should have anything to do with it.

I remember from setting up my leagues that there was some interaction between Balanced Schedule Format and Interleague Play. I cannot remember exactly, but I wrote this note to myself: "the game does not allow an unbalanced schedule without interleague play." Turning that around, that could also mean that you need an unbalanced schedule to have interleague play. Perhaps that answers your question? Think of it this way: It could be difficult to have a balanced schedule against teams of your sub-league AND a handful of games against teams from the other sub-league.

Thanks 1998... and thanks again for those notes that you keep. When I fire it up for the 2nd season, I'll try turning off Balanced Schedule and see what I get.

Hmmm... That didn't seem to work. I started my 2nd season with Interleague checked on and Balanced Schedule unchecked and according to my schedule there are no interleague games scheduled. Theories anyone?

Here's a clue from that post that you found. According to "old timer,"

"So if I understand correctly, interleague schedules are only possible if you have a league setup that matches one of the setups used to make the predefined schedules. So leagues with unusual numbers of teams, games, etc. will not be able to have interleague play since the schedule generator can't do it. Is this correct?"

It could be that you are in the same situation. He ended up editing an .lsdl file (schedule file) that he created and he seemed happy in the end. Alas, battists never finished that section in the Customization Guide, so I do not even know what old timer is talking about. All I know is that you can open up an .lsdl file in a word processing program like Notepad, and you can make changes and save them. Beyond that, good luck. You might want to search these forums some more; perhaps there is another thread that might go into this in more detail.

That gives me a lead anyway... I'll try to run some searches on a few of the words you mentioned. I found the folder with the Isdl files... and I think I'll leave that alone until I know what I'm doing

Kuttner, I had forgotten about a couple of things when I posted here last.

First, there is a Schedule Editor in OOTP, accessible through Game, Game Setup, League Setup, Other Functions, Edit Schedule (you may have to be the commissioner to get there). So, you don't necessarily have to manually edit schedules.

Second, battists did address Schedule Editor in the game manual (section 25.6, page 327). He goes briefly into some of the processes, including importing and exporting .lsdl files.

That is the extent of what I know about it, as I have never edited any schedules myself. I thought I would mention it in case your were unaware of this module and wanted to give it a try. You should back up your schedules folder first.
