Game log error
Got the following in one of our game logs:
1-1: Bunt missed, Strikeout! Er...no. (In fact, on the next pitch the player hit a 3-run HR.) I haven't messed with the XML file, yet. Is this something I can fix myself?

Ah, I see. The XML is just for in-game commentary and news stories. If the game logs are wrong, it's a bug. Oh well, at least it's a minor one.

I read this post yesterday, was looking through my saved game folders last night, and found a stray game log (I usually do not save game logs, but I think the game saves those that you view either during or after the game). As luck would have it, I opened it up and saw your "1-1: Bunt missed, Strikeout!" on the third pitch of the game! Actually, it occurs two more times in this game log as well, on 0-0 counts.
I included the game log below, if it helps anybody. Also, I was going to opine what you confirmed, Solonor, about the XML file which does not contain the phrases used in game logs. I think those are generated elsewhere in the game. Last edited by 1998 Yankees; 02-22-2008 at 10:28 AM. |

I'm surprised this glitch in the game log output wasn't ferreted out before the final patch--it seems like a line that should show up frequently in logs, yet no one reported it and I don't recall seeing it in any of the logs I examined.
Apparently the game is grabbing the same text to refer to a "swinging strike" on a bunt attempt, whether that was strike one or two or three. It looks weird (maybe because it's wrong! ), but at least it's only an error in the game log display.
