As a sample group of one, I "deny" your supposition. I have five years in my league; the career leader currently has 162 saves in 318 IP, but the last one on the leaderboard has only 13 in 98 innings. The current requirement is 243 IP for career
rate statistics, which I take to mean stats like ERA and winning pct. If the top guy had made 162 one-inning appearances and converted saves in all of them, he would be at the top of the saves leaderboard regardless of IP, as he should be. FYI, the next guy has 152 saves in 275 IP, but #3 has 140 in 233 IP. And so on. This is not what you are seeing? Note: I am purely fictional league . . .
