Is there a setting or something I missed?

I don't get the "Welcome to the game, the (visiting team) at 50-40 is playing the (home team) at 40-50. Pitching today is S.Pitcher, 8-8 on the year with a 4.50 era and 75 strikeouts... stepping into the box is A.Hitter..." etc.etc.

Just goes right to the first pitch. All of the old color is gone. Is that the way the game is now, or am I just missing a setting?

If not, I need to head to the suggestion forum, unless it's already been posted by someone

There's a lot of color text that ver 6 had that 2006 does not. The text tokens do not exist yet. They have been screamed for.
