New features in 1.0.3 :)

OK, here is a list of new features that will make it into 1.0.3 so far:

- Commissioners may now retire or unretire players manually
- Added player overall and potential rating to player profile screen
- Added AI lineup selection options to the game setup, traditional (weighting overall ratings/stats more than splits) and sabermetric (depending solely on split ratings/stats)
- When promoting a player to the active roster, he is automatically added to the 40-man roster if there is room
- Added the option to only display qualifiers in the sortable player list within the league statistics screen

This quote is kind of ironic isn't it?

Well, that's progress. Perhaps not exactly what some of us were hoping for at this time but certainly still forward progress. Thank you.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I wonder if this one has anything to do with improving AI lineup logic itself.

This is going to be a league setup option? Shouldn't it differ from team-to-team based on their preferences??

No, since it is a preference of the user. Some say the lineups OOTP currently generates are bad, others say they are spot on. That's why it is a global option.

Will there be the option to pick neither and leave it completely up to manager preferences?

I think the sabermetric would equate to the default that you now see in the game. Maybe Markus can clarify, but I'd be willing to bet that this is the case.

Thanks Markus for adding these features so far. Now all that remains is to find a way to block fictional players from all major league transactions and call-ups when using the Lahman database.

OK, that would be fine. I was just worried about the two options having moved to the extreme in each direction without there being anything in the middle. If all that has happened is one of those selections is the original one and the other is now a 2nd option then it makes more sense.

I thought the opposite...I assumed that the lineups were based on ratings, and not so much on stats, especially splits.

All great! Especially the ability to display qualifiers in the league stats screen.

dola,

Keep in mind that these are just the new features. The patch will also fix some bugs and other outstanding issues.

Will the fielding stats be fixed in this version? I noticed that all my players always show up as having zeros for their fielding percentage, range, ect. when I try to add fielding stat columns to a view.

Its great that your fixing the auto 40 man thing, because I was getting annoyed at always having to move guys onto both places just to promote them. One other annoyance I have is when the active roster is expanded to 40, but you already have 25 players on the roster, the right click transfer actions don't allow you to promote a player to the active roster. Presumably its hard coded to 25, and doesn't actually pay attention to the current valid roster size...
