Solution to OOTP/elicense won't start issue

Hi all,

So I've seen a few other posts on this board with the issue, and I've spent a few days trying to figure it out myself. This is the issue where OOTP6 won't start up, as in you click on the .exe, the mouse cursor turns to an hour glass momentarily, and nothing happens. And LicCtrl in Administration Tools->Services won't start up (error 1053). Or if you get the following error:

Starting up ootp6.exe:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

The problem seems to lie with Windows denying the runservice.exe to run (which is needed to load up the elicense LicCtrl service). To fix it:

My Computer, right-click Properties
Go to advanced tab
Go to "Settings" button
Go to Data Execution Prevention tab
The C:\windows\runservice.exe and OOTP6.exe should be added in.
