Does anyone have a template or quick start

Looking for a template or quickstart the standard MLB universe (MLB, AAA, AA, A, S-A, R-A).

I don't care about real players or any of that, I just didnt know if anyone had taken the time to make this. I know the in-game one has fake names, etc.

There is a serious shortage of quickstarts and roster sets for OOTP 2006. I am very puzzled by this and have no idea what the reason for the shortage is.

Could it be that you havent made a roster set yet??

But you did promise never to make a public roster set again.

I think I have what you're looking for. I have a template that has all of the MLB and affiliated teams with their nicknames. That's about the extent of it. I don't have players because the enormity of it is too much. If you'd like it, go ahead an PM me. It's not too difficult, I think I sat down and did it while watching a ball game.

To The Wolf: I think that's why there's not a lot of real roster sets, either. Nobody has the time to make a full set of real rosters with minor league players included.

Hopefully when Cubby releases his next roster, we'll have a pretty good one to put in a universe. GO CUBBY!!!

I think the original poster just wants a setup with all the real team names, stadiums and such from MLB down to rookie ball. He's not looknig for real players.

Does anyone actually have an idea why there aren't any rosters or templates to be had?

Nope. There were roster makers added into the mix at a very early point in development, long before opening day.

Exactly. A saved template would be awesome, people would be free to make any changes before starting the league.

Aren't templates pretty sizable? Don't they need to be hosted somewhere because they're too big to post on the boards? I don't know.

That would be accuate. That being said, I don't have a site, but I'd be happy to share a template of the league I'm playing if someone will host it.

It's set in 1977 (but editable) with the MLB and a not completely accuate minor league system, but it seems to be playing fairly well in my game.

I'll share when I'm done

My project for the next week or so is to create the following configuration:

1. MLB, with the following minor leagues:
a. International League
b. Pacific Coast League
c. Eastern League
d. Southern League
e. Texas League
f. California League
g. Carolina League
h. Florida State League
i. Midwest League
j. South Atlantic League
k. New York-Penn League
l. Northwest League
m. Appalachian League
n. Arizona Summer League
o. Gulf Coast League
p. Pioneer League
2. Nippon Professional League with Ni-Gun league
3. Taiwan Proffessional league
4. Korean Baseball Org
4. Mexican League
5. Cuban League
6. 4 Independant leagues (Frontier, American Association, Northern, Atlantic)

the template will be ready first...with correct team names. This will allow you to start with this and add/subtract leagues as you prefer. The League settings will be to my liking, but again, you'll be able to adjust and tweak.

I'll also create a quickstart based on this template which will include logos, stadium configurations based on excel posted by a board member...sorry, forgot the name....correct cities (as long as the real city exists in the cities file), and as many team colors as I can find data for (would love help here for minors and foreign teams).

Few notes: I did modify the names file, so that there are fewer hispanic and other foreign names for US born players. Also, the injury file will have no CEI's...replaced by injuries that coudl go as longer than a year. This will be fictional, so no rosters are implied or promised.

So anyway, I'll work on this through the week. Hopefully I'll have something to share next weekend to coincide with the next patch.

Thanks for taking on this ambitious project. I'd be willing to supply team colors for the Korean Baseball Organization.

True, but there isn't exactly a lack of filesharing sites that will host files the size of templates for free, either for a limited (they could be reuploaded) or unlimited time.

Didn't someone try that and find injuries which lasted longer than a year weren't used or some problem?

For the colors, there's a free program called Hex Color Finder that someone linked to a while back which you could use on the logos.

That Hex Color Finder is a great program. It works perfectly for team colors. I use it for lots of other gaming things now too.

Injuries: Hmmm...if that's true, I'd sure like to know before I create a new league. any info would be appreciated.

Colors: I remember someone talking about that...I think in Matter's version 3.0 thread. I'll look for it, but if someone has a quick link to it that would help me greatly. Thanks.

That sounds awesome! If you need a place to host it, I have a ton of webspace/bandwidth available.

Templates do not have stadium info and logos with them though, right?
