How big is your OOTP2006 Universe?

Just wanted to poll people on how big there universe is.

I am currently simulation a North American Universe with a 10 Team US Major League with three levels of minors. A 10 Team Canadian Major League also with three levels of minors, and a 10 team Mexican Major league with two levels of minors

Sim speeds are pretty darn good and I am very happy with the game.

Please post you setup.

4 Leagues (all top level) -> 24 teams in each -> 96 Total Teams

All set in the US, promotion/relegation (bottom team in each division down, top team up, a third team up (and the second worst team from its division down) if one of the wild cards wins the playoffs).

Slightly different foreign player rules in each division (Limit of 2 in the bottom tier, unlimited in the top tier) and very slightly different financials.

I'm still in the process of setting up the nicknames and logos, as well as testing and refining my financials.

Wow, that sounds interesting. I was thinknig about trying a promotion/relegation type of league. I'd be interested in your findings.

Pretty small league really, set in 1900

One league as a 2 Division, 6 teams per division ML with full minors this league is centered around towns with railroad links from the late 1800's. All these teams are from the midwest and western parts of the US, furthest North East being New Orleans.

The other ML is a 1 division set up with 6 teams in that division with a AAA, AA, A minor league set up which is a rival league based around steel and cotton mill towns. This league is mainly set in and around Pennsylvania and Carolina areas of the US.

There is also a 6 team one division Negro League set up in the New York State area.

It's kind of set up on the old MLB, Federal League rivalry. Players can't move from either league through trades but can through FA, Negro League players like the old Negro Leagues cannot play in either of the ML's.

All teams have historical nicknames and ballpark names associated with the towns they play in example being the Omaha Packers who get their name from the meat packing company that helped build the city who play at Council Bluffs Field as the first settles were from Council Bluffs.

I have a full logo set for the league which was kindly done by reds1 and knuckler who spent many hours of their time making not only team logos but also league logos couple of examples below, also input by Eugene Church helped me with the league as well, without the help from these 3 people the league wouldn't be half as much fun, thank you.

I run on a dreadful old laptop with only 512k of memory so I kept it to a 26 team major league with full minors. It runs well but simulating the first 90 years (I took over an expansion franchise after that) took a couple of days IIRC. As I play out every game I don't much notice any major processing time issues, though.

I used a quick start template that someone on these boards created. It has a full world of leagues but due to the slow processing of my computer, when 1.03 comes out, I am going to set up a MLB universe with full minors but no other countries involved. That's all I'm really interested in (or have time to follow) anyway.

Full MLB starting in 1998. I would have started earlier but OOTP still does not support expansion with protected rosters, drafts, and so on like other baseball sims do.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Wow! How long does it take to sim with this size universe? Do you play games out?

FWIW, I do manual expansions in my fictional league and its actually kind of fun. Time consuming yes, but fun because I make the rules however I see fit.

I've toyed with the idea also, the only problem I can see is that since it's just moving teams around in the off season, it's not true promotion/relegation.

I forsee an issue with the AI in that when at the bottom of a league they won't try and stay up, but rebuild for the future, taking some of the drama away from the whole principle.

Sounds very immersive!

Being a logo guru, I must say that reds1 and knuckler are some of the best logo makers. Those are killer!

I made a 12 team/2 division California League with 6 teams from Northern, 6 from Southern CA. 5 levels of minor leagues w/ all the largest cities from each county in California obviously.

I like the speeds a little quicker therefore I chose a pretty small league. Everything is pretty much MLB-like as far as rules go. I also test simmed to get more accurate looking stats for modern big league stats.

So far, in my 4th year the pitching has the upperhand by about .25-.30 points of an earned run more than I want but I'm pretty happy w/ the results.

Have you got Eureka and Crescent city in that league by any chance?

No just because they are very small towns. I pretty much have like all the largest cities in CA being the parent clubs and then the next smallest cities in those counties affiliated. So like San Diego will have Carlsbad as one of its minor league teams because they are both in the same county.

Wow, Crescent City is like almost 8,000 pop, I could probably make Eureka a minor league club when I do expansion in about 6-10 more seasons.

I want to try and set it up so that everyone imported into the game is from CA but I guess I have to redo all the name files?

EDIT: errr, not the names files the template.

Here's a thread just begging to be parodied.

Anyway, mine is rather small.

This is the full set, all I asked was script logos and gave them a list of teams and leagues. I figure the talent they have it's best me just giving them as few details as possible for the logos as their the talented ones not me.

Hope sandman forgives me as totally forgot the logos he did for the player awards.

My fictional universe has only 1 league, with 12 teams total (all U.S. based), 3 divisions of 4 teams each. Each division winner moves onto the play-offs in addition to one wild card slot. Each team has minor league teams at A, AA, and AAA.

I know, it is pretty small, but I play out everygame. I'm in May of the second season, and I could probably name off the regular starting nine for my twelve teams faster than I could for any 12 current MLB teams.

I'm a self-proclaimed stat freak, and the coziness of 12 teams is perfect for my level of play. I tried a universe of 24 teams, but I found that I was driving myself batty with the level of intimacy I like to keep with each team in my league.

That's pretty dreadful, only having half a meg!

I don't have a universe, since I've never found the time to start one. Want a lot of leagues (like Japan, North America, Canada etc...) but it's finding the time to do it, and I don't believe a suitable quickstart has been created yet.
