Disappearing FA signing period

I don't know if this is my fault or not, but if it is I'd just like to know how to avoid doing it again in the future.

Prior to the '93 season in my career mode, I added two new teams for the real-life expansion, pushing the league total up to the then-standard 28. After doing so (and giving the teams some money to spend to fill out a roster and their TV deals), I ran the coaches signing period and everything was okay. I didn't notice it until a few minutes later, but the FA signing period had disappeared and spring training was the next option. All the FAs were still sitting out there but there was no period. I double-checked my coaches screen to make sure I had finished that correctly, and I had. All I'm asking is, what happened there? Did I screw it up without knowing, or is it a bug? I'm using the 4.1 update.

To be honest I did not personally try adding any teams yet with 4.1 so I do not know, I would not think that would matter but don't know for sure. I'll look into it however.

When did you add the teams? When I tested the expansion to update my Expansion Tutorial, I didn't have this problem at all. Did you potentially turn off financials while adding the teams and forget to turn them back on?

I changed nothing in the league setup besides the league structure. I added the teams after proceeding to the new year but prior to signing coaches.

I didn't know about the guide before doing this (I'm still somewhat new to the game and am just now starting to look around here), but I'm pretty sure nothing I did conflicted with the things on there.

Just as an update on this, whatever happened prior to 1993 didn't happen prior to 1994, so I'm assuming it's just something I did wrong and didn't know about. Oh well.
