Odd PBP Call End of Game

Situation: Bottom of the 10th with 1 out and a man of second and third

At-Bat Result: Batter hits a grounder to the second baseman who manages to catch it but does not make a throw.

PBP Call: Spears It! Decides to not make a throw, probably a good descision. Hernandez crosses the plate to score!

Not a big thing as I'm sure in that situation there's almost zero chance of the second baseman making a throw to get the runner at home, but to not even throw (and then to have the color man say that's a good decision?) just seemed odd.

On the plus side it was my team that drove in the winning run!

No matter when during the course of the game it happens, the engine in that situation pulls the text for "Infield Hit".

You can always edit such lines as "Probably a good decision" out of the text.

That would be good advice, except for the fact that the phrase "good decision" doesn't appear in the XML file. This is one of those pesky nuggets of hard-coded text that we can't do anything about, except to bring it to Markus's attention.

EDIT: On reflection, this seems less like a PbP problem than another example of the AI making goofy decisions on a play in the infield with the game on the line.

Sorry it's taken so long to get this addressed.

Has anyone seen any instances of this since the last patch?

We have a rule that states that Tech Support threads wherein we have not received a response within 7 days will be closed.

This one meets this criteria, so I'm closing this.

If you want to discuss it again, just PM me with the thread link, and I'll re-open. (Don't just say "Hey, reopen my thread." I need to know the URL, thanks!)
