Please help me find a list of player stats
I have searched high and low...I am sure it is there...but couldn't find it.
Does V2006 have "League Leaders" like OOTP6, where you could sort the top 15, 30, 50 and 100 in each statistical category, batting, pitching, fielding? You could also sort them by "all players", "qualified" and "rookies". Is this in V2006? Is is possible to find a list of all players' batting averages...and sort them by "all", "qualified" and "rookies"? |

Maybe they do, but it feels like I'm either being ignored or misunderstood. So far, the only thing I have heard is that you can see the Top 10 on the leaderboard page if you're in full screen mode. That's nice, but it's not what I'm asking for!!

From the League Drop Down menu (that's the one along the top where it reads "GAME-MANAGER-league abbreviation-lg TEAMS-RECENT... its the one with the league abbreviation)... select STATISTICS
You'll get a display of the top 5 leaders in various categories (or select the TEAM tab for team stats). You can set the SCOPE (such as American League, National League or Both). You can set the PLAYERS to QUALIFIED, QUALIFIED ROOKIES or ALL. You can set a single position, such as SS or RF or ALL. That's just the base display... there's more you can do. You can drill down or customize by using the selections along the upper part of the base Statistics display to get any batting, pitching or fielding stats for different player sets. You can customize those screens to display only the information you want and can set filters. (Like way too much power but heck why not?) At any rate, select STATISTICS from the league drop down and then experiment from there with the different options and displays. If you need more info or get lost, let me know and I'll do some screenshots to clarify.... |

Ok, with a little more clarity now that I have the game up....
1. From the League drop down menu, select STATISTICS 2. The Statistics display appears showing leaders in various categories. In this display you can set the League Scope (AL,NL,all), Player qualification (Qualifieid, Qualified Rookie or All) or select a particular position or all. You can move from batting, pitching or fielding stats. You can get Batting, Pitching or Fielding stats here. That's the base display showing the top 5 in the basic categories. If you want more... 3. click "Sortable Player Stats" 4. A new display appears.... 5. From the View drop down menu, select "Batting Stats Set 1" 6. Batting stats appears on the list now instead of whatever columns were there before. 7. Click on any heading to sort the display. So for example... click on AVG and get them in Batting Average order. Here you can apply filters and attributes to further define and refine the players to be included on the list. If you want to use a screen often, then Bookmark it. (Bookmark is on the lower right.) That way you can just select the bookmark and go right there without having to navigate through all the drop downs and selections. |

Except that you cannot limit the sortable stats list to QUALIFIED players (much less get a list of leading Rookies).
Nobody gets it...

agreed i dont wanna see that the guy with 4-4-4- ratings that was called up for one day pitched a 1/3 inning without giving up a run so his ERA is 0 but the guys who have been playing most of the season and have enough innings pitched that there number reflect how the play |

jdew, I am familiar with this stats screen...at least the basic screen. I didn't go much deeper as I don't think this version is anything like OOTP6.5 was as far as stats presentation.
It only give you the top 5 in each category and there doesn't seem to be a way to get a listing of the top 15, top 30, top 50, top 100 in each category like OOTP6. As PBL Commish and Solonor mentioned, there doesn't seem to be a way to sort to only get the players that qualified in each category, you get all players. I don't think you can sort to get rookies, either. Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-30-2006 at 11:09 PM. |

The stats presentation in V2006 is really something to behold.
It is fantastic and mindboggling in scope...and really great, if that is what a person wants. But it is not very functional and useful for me. It gives me far more info that I would ever want, but not what I need to enjoy the game. Just give me a listing of the top 10 to top 100 in each basic stat category...like OOTP6.5 and let me sort them by "all" players, "qualifiers" and "rookies". I don't need all these views, filters, scopes, etc. I am not bashing the game, just getting my opinion posted in hopes V2007 might include some of the good points of OOTP6.5...like its Leaderboards and League Leaders Screen. As a small consolation, if you really want, you can always export the stats to CSV and bring them into Excel to do your own thing. But you shouldn't have to for a basic thing like a "Top 20 Rookie Batting Averages" list....especially in a game with all the bells and whistles and filters and stats splits and double splits and the kitchen sink.
I'm not a 2006 basher (heaven knows I've put enough time into trying to help make it a better game), but when I haven't had my coffee and am feeling a little grumpy, this is the thing that irks me the most about the game. There seems to be everything in the universe someone might want included, and I always come up against some basic little thing (to me) that's missing or broken. Off to get more coffee...
