Im so happy, Boston needs to shut everyone the hell up, and over take Yankees and let ANA OR OAK TAKE WC. |

I really hope the Red Sox fans out there aren't delusional enough to think that Cliff Floyd is enough to make up 5 games in the standings. Red Sox pitching staff still stinks after you get past Lowe and Martinez....

Note that many MTL fans are understandably upset by the move, Floyd was popular in MTL partially because he represented part of the golden age before the star sell-offs began, but I am hoping GM Minaya might pull off another deal before tomorrow. If this was a MLB induced sell off that would suck, but Floyd did not seem remotely interested in being the 'Spo's savior. |

How weak is Florida? They got a bunch of crud from Montreal for Floyd and the Expos turn around and flip him for two prospects.

floyd helps the Red Sox just in the fact that Georgie boy wanted Floyd badly and didn't get him .... as far as all the Floyd sucks comments, well he's a good deal better than the sox have going at DH right now .... I'd rather of had Thome but we weren't going to get him ... as far as the Expos go, they got Floyd to try and make a run at the WC it didn't work so they got rid of him, they traded two pitching prospects for him and got two in return, wish more teams were that smart ... bottom line either you're a sox fan or you're not, if you are (like me) you're happy to see floyd, if you don't like the sox, then floyd is over rated .....

lets get one thing straight...
neither the red sox nor their fans want Troy O'Leary back. (Well, at least until he bounces around the league a little and at 35 or 36, becomes desirable....<cough> Ellis Burks <cough>)

I believe it to be a futile effort. The only way anyone over takes the Yankees in the AL East is if the Yankees aren't in it anymore. OAK or ANA will win the WC and the Red Sox will be watching, AGAIN!

O'Leary had a good year or two with us (and for some reason got a lot of triples...), but he sucked at the end of his stay here and barely hit .200 - even Tony Clark is having a better year than Yummy did.

Sox picked up Bob Howry as an extra pitcher.
At this point the Sox wouldn't be able to move any cheap decent young players, without calling them Players to Be Named. (Fossum and Nixon will certainly be claimed and pulled back when they are floated on the waiver wire in the next week). At this point the players that are likely to be moved will be overpaid, underperforming players (although some highly paid decent players may sneak through as well, since teams will be afraid of being Randy Myer'ed (stuck with an overpriced bum) who might sneak through waivers and some who are claimed may very be well stuck onto the claiming team. |
