Weird crash problem..

Crash is occurring: I finish my games on 6/21. On the next day, the amateur draft is going to occur and the all-star lineups are to be announced. So I hit auto-play to advance to 6/22, and the game crashes (sometimes right away, sometimes after the green bar has advanced maybe 10% of the way over). I fully uninstall and reinstall, doesn't help, I am using latest patch.

So I go back to my saved file on 6/21 and shift the first year player draft to 6/23. Now, I advance to 6/22 just fine - but I get a news item that the draft pool has been released! I check, and instead of 120 in my draft pool (I have an 8 team league), there's now 240! I also have a news item with the all-star lineups. And then when I autoplay to get to the next day, 6/23, everything appears to be fine, I go into the draft, and it works.

It seems to be related to having the all-star lineups announced and the draft occuring on the same day, but I haven't been able to recreate the bug with a new league created off of the same template.

Things are starting to get weirder..

When I went through to delete the 120 extra draft pool guys, I could find them easily, because they were the 120 members of the draft pool whom my scout hadn't scouted. Except that only 112 hadn't been scouted - 8 somehow had. I identified which 8 they were and deleted them. But just then I noticed that some of my minor leaguers were missing, and lo and behold, those 8 guys had taken their place. I exported the roster file and compared to one I created a few days prior. Those 8 guys had "stolen" the player IDs of the 8 missing guys. And the missing 8 guys had something in common - in the previous roster file, they were listed, and their team name was my team name, but their Team ID was 0. Apparently the program figured that the player was "dead", so it re-used their player ID (even though I do not have the box checked to delete retired minor leaguers). I was trying to think of what those 8 might have had in common, to explain why the team ID was 0. I think all 8 were once on my 40-man roster, so maybe when they were DFA'd the team ID was set to 0. However, I found a roster export from after they would have been DFA'd, and their team ID was still 17.

Now, I haven't experimented with roster importing, but what I tried to do is replace the 8 new guys with my old 8 guys by copying the records over, and then trying to import the roster export file. It went through, and I checked my team transaction screen. Quite interestingly, I only have 8 players on my team, and it is my 8 old guys! But all of my other players are now missing!!

Fortunately none of my 8 old guys were any of my top prospects, so I'm thinking of just moving on without them. I don't feel like spending the time to try and figure out how to meddle into the database to "recreate" my lost players.

Here's the conclusion for everyone who skimmed through all the rambling in this post to try to get to the detail: It seems all the problems boil down to the following error: some of my players had their team ID set to 0 (despite the fact the Team Name was correct and they continued to appear on my roster and even play for my team), and the program then thought they were "dead" and overwrote them with new players.

I know it is a lot to read, but I was wondering if any of the support guys wanted me to send my league in to take a look at.

Thanks - tk19

We have a rule that states that Tech Support threads wherein we have not received a response within 7 days will be closed.

This one meets this criteria, so I'm closing this.

If you want to discuss it again, just PM me with the thread link, and I'll re-open. (Don't just say "Hey, reopen my thread." I need to know the URL, thanks!)
