Team Strategy Tab
Do these apply to gameplay? I have intentional walks set to never, copied to all situations, and the AI will still put players on. I'm using the most recent patch.

You might need to adjust each coach's strategy tendencies as well.

Thanks Steve. If it's all the same, having "never" at one end wouldn't be a bad idea. I don't know all of the strategy categories, but I know I might set squeeze bunt to never, maybe one or two others. I think infield shift is one of them, which always seemed gimmicky to me.
And jbsnadb, you may be right too. I'm playing with coaches off, so I assumed that this would apply to whichever AI nameholder I chose (manager or bench coach). This may be more complicated than I originallt thought it was... |

Fauteil,
Is the AI putting people on in games that you are playing out? IIRC, the strategy settings might only be in effect when you auto-play games. Can you explain exactly what you're doing? But, I'm open to the idea that something might be goofy. I agree, there should be a "never" option that really means "never." Thanks, Steve |

I'm sorry for not being specific in my original post, Steve. I play out every game and had been using the AI for defensive positioning and pitching strategy until I read a post about what "hold runner" really does, which was contrary to what I had intuited. So now I suppose this doesn't affect me as much since I control the pitching strategy, but it may still be a problem.
I just simmed two months and there were no intentional walks in that time so I think you are right in saying that the team strategy tab may just affect simmed games. Also, I have my coaches off, so the personality of an individual bench coach or manager shouldn't be affecting this either. Once again (and as always), thanks for the help. |
