Boxscore/Game Log Overwrite

Has anyone else experienced the following? In simming a season, at the end of the season if there are two teams tied they play one game to determine the division winner. However, the game simmed boxscore and gamelog is recorded as game #1, effectively overwriting the boxscore and gamelog for the first game of the season in the league. Thereafter, boxscores and game logs are recorded/saved in a similar fashion (game #2, game #3, etc.) for the playoffs and World Series, wiping out the boxscores/game logs for some of the early season league games.

Also, does the game automatically save the post-season and World Series boxscores/gamelogs by the same renumbering sequence (starts at game 1), regardless of the tie-breaker game? I hadn't noticed this overwrite problem before.

I haven't tried this yet, but I hope it will work as a workaround: If two teams are tied for a division lead, go to the saved boxscores/gamelogs and rename the boxscores/game logs as "1a", "2a", "3a", etc. to about boxscore/gamelog 25 or so. This (I hope) should prevent the overwriting problem for the tie-breaker game and the subsequent post-season.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

I tried saving the boxscores/games logs by renaming those 1 through 25 as 1a, 2a, 3a, etc. However, when I generate the html reports, those boxscores/gameslogs for the tie-breaker, playoffs, and World Series are shown (renumbered as game 1, 2, etc.), but the early leagues games I changed to 1a, 2a, etc. are not listed.

Looks like I'll have to do the following:

Change early league games to 1a, 2a, 3a, etc. Then after post-season play, change those boxscores/gamelogs to the next game # after the last regular season game (such as 2595). Then go back and rechange the original early season boxscores/gamelogs back to their original numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.).
Then generate the html reports. Hopefully, this will take care of the problem.

OK, I went back and checked some old html genereted files I saved from OOTP3, and it looks as if the same situation was present in OOTP3 as OOTP4 (post-season boxscores/gamelogs overwriting early regular season boxscores/gamelogs).

I tried renumbering the playoff and world series games as mentioned above, but no luck in generating html reports linking the playoff/World Series games to their new boxscore/gamelog numbers.

Looks like I'll have to do the following:

At end of season, save boxscores/game logs generetd for league in new file. Then before proceeding to playoffs/World Series, clear out genereted boxscores/gamelogs. Once post-season is done, save these in another folder. Then transport regular season boxscores/gamelogs back into proper folder before generating html reports. Looks as if the post-season boxscores/gamelogs won't be genereted (Unless, of course, there's a way around this).

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Final follow-up:

OK, I think I can fix the html generated boxscores/gamelogs for the post season (and/or tie-breaker games). Save regular season boxscores/gamelogs in different folder. Clear out boxscore folder and run post-season. Change names of boxscores/gamelogs to 1a, 2a, 3a, etc. Import regular season boxscores/gamelogs back into boxscore folder and generate html pages. Once pages are generated, go to "box" html page and select option "view source" (or load page into HTML editor). Then change the hyperlinks in the html text to the renamed post-season boxscores/gamelogs. That way, the hyperlink for the post-season games played will take you to the correct boxscores/gamelogs for the generetated boxscores.

playing version ootp4.1 and just finished my first season. Rangers and Red Sox had one game playoff to determine wildcard team. Had no problem like the one you describe, all boxscores were numbered as they should be right into the World Series.

OK, I give up. Tried my suggestion above and it still won't work.

Do I need to go back and look at the league schedule? I'm using a 2 league, 2 divisions in each league (32 teams total) format using ficctional players. I created my own schedule using the in-game schedule editor.

I think I now know what the problem is, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

I went back and checked some of my old OOTP3 html files, and the only year with the renumbering of games post-season on was for year 2000 (all other years were fine).

in OOTP4 I simmed year 2000 and got the renumbering problem, but when I simmed 2001, everything came out fine (post-season games were numbered accordingly). So it has to be something with the year 2000 and (possibly) the in-game scheduler.

Finally figured out the problem. I created a new league in OOTP4 and imported all of my old files except the schedule.dat file. In the new league I generated a new schedule, cleared it, and then manually created the same schedule I had in my old league. No more renumbering problem...

i find it best to reset the schedule each year. that is unless you've spent a lot of time creating a perfect one.

I had this same problem with a brand new league in OOTP 4.1. I was using the schedule generator and a 2 league, 24 team setup. The final game of the World Series was listed as game 40. Is this a bug with the Stickware schedule generator?
