Player of the Week - AB Minimum?
I just had a player in my fictional league win player of the week despite only having had three at bats. Granted, he had three hits, two of which were homeruns (he's a platoon catcher and had his only start late in the week). I'm happy for him, but this doesn't seem logical.

Do you have the latest patch?
Was this league started post-patch? Can you verify these and if you are indeed using the latest patch and it's a new league, please keep the league file and zip the .dat files and send them to markus.heinsohn@sigames.com Then post back here so we can log it into TT. Thanks you.

This problem is related to how the game determines Player of the Week, because (apparently) there's no plate appearance minimum needed to qualify. Establishing a minimum would fix this particular issue, and I think doing that is a good idea. (Does anyone know if MLB has a plate appearance minimum for its Player of the Week award?) |

Thanks for the input on this. It's such a minor thing I wasn't sure if it should have been brought up, but I'm glad I did.
I do have the most recent patch but I believe the league was started with the first WIP patch, so I don't think I should bother Markus with the league.dat. The problem is that it'd be such a tough thing to replicate. M's Rule - He was 3 for 3 with two homers and five RBI, so that does seem like it would be good enough to win the award according to the formula you were alluding to. It's a low homer/high batting average league so the two homers may also have been close to the high total for the week. He had a great game, but Player of the Week? I don't know... I did a quick Google search and couldn't find any AB minimums for Player of the Week. If there is one, I'm sure it's more than 3 AB.

Just a clarification - of course there should be a plate appearance minimum and not an at-bat minimum.

![]() I suppose the way to handle this is to use the rule that determines who qualifies for the batting title: plate appearances must be at least 3.1 times the number of games played (for a 162-game MLB season, this comes out to 502 PA). A problem I see with implementing this for Player of the Week awards (and maybe also Player of the Month?) is that the game code would have to keep track of how many games each team played during the time period in question. I don't think this information is currently tracked, but maybe it could be. |
