i've noticed a couple of people have added injuries to their injury file. someone even had "left to play in U.S" for his Japanese League. Which i thought was very intelligent.
soooo...i was wondering. I'll be very interested in doing somethin like this. and adding a whole bunch of new types of injuries to my injury file. my question is this...what would you guys like to see in an injury file? It could basically be anything that can really happen such as "riding a motorcycle, lying that you were cleaning a truck, crashing, breaking your wrist and being out for a month" or wateva. (not to poke fun at jeff kent, but i'm just giving an example) what i want to do is receive feedback on what you guys would want in an injury file. I will collect the feedback and then run another thread to receive opinions on how long, or how likely certain injuries or weird events can occur. if anyone would be interested in having me do this, then drop a post about what kind of injury or event you would like to happen. afterwards i'll need some info on how to export the file for dl in an OOTP dl site. This way everyone can have one huge file of injuries(instead of just adding a few on your own) thanks |

How about some straight from real life:
- Cut himself ith a knife while opening a CD case. - Hurt his back while rough-housing (kickboxing, I think) in his apartment - Got shot in the butt while being held up - And sadly, died after an accident while driving drunk And while it's not technically an injury, it'd be funny to see a player go into Operation Shutdown a la Derek Bell. Can that count as a mental injury?

I added "was killed in a car accident" to mine. I actually saw it come up once.

I was about to edit my injury file as well. I'm planning to add things like "drug rehab", "drunk driving", "domestic violence" and of course the Luis Polonia Memorial "sex scandal." Damn, I could name all of these after Yankees!
(Or maybe just Daryl Strawberry ) |

great ideas so far...keep em comin.
quick question, how do you make somethin a career ending injury??? what number do i use for min/max? and if i use for example: died in a car accident...how would i implement that? wouldnt it sound weird if it said...Derek Bell (God forbid) suffered a career ending injury with a car accident that took away his life... i mean if this is the only way, then i'm sure people can deal with it. but i guess i'll have to reconsider using death in this game. edit: also, i know that most of these injuries end up on the newspaper...so i would have to make sure that they are written in to make sense. for example: if i add in lets say, "cut himself with a knife while opening a package from a fan" it would seem weird and strange if the newspaper article says: Derek Bell will be sidelined for 3-5 days with a cut himself with a knife while... that just wouldnt sound right. now if it said: Derek Bell will be sidelined for 3-5 days with a cut to his arm while opening a package... I'm just asking, will this always be the case? or has anyone come across a situation in which the latter would not make sense in a newspaper article or in the injury news? thanks again [ 04-26-2002, 12:08 PM: Message edited by: YankeePride ] |

well if you all give me different types of injuries that you want i could make one huge file for everyone. but i'm sure most of you would also like to add your own injuries for now.
so to answer your question, if you go into the OOTP4 folder, you'll find a file named injury.txt i believe? somethin like that. open that file and all the injuries are right before your eyes. you can add new injuries by following the measures on the very top of the open file. |

I came up with a modified injury.txt file back in the OOTP3 days, and there's a thread on the topic including the file, here:

Drinky ----
ROTFLOL...... Had almost forgotten.... I don't know if you could classify it as an injury, but I also seem to remember players missing a game (Yankees, I think), when they were arrested for relieving themselves in public (in KC, I think...) dboTiger |
