2007 All-Star Game in San Francisco?

Why is Major League Baseball breaking with the tradition (that goes back at least 45 years) of alternating between AL and NL parks for the All-Star game?

I know Bud wants to showcase all the new parks, but wouldn't Yankee Stadium (30 years since the last ASG there) be a better choice than SBC?

I don't like seemingly pointless breaking from tradition.

Maybe he's hoping home field advantage will help the NL actually win a game once every 10 years or so.

Didn't they just lose in a NL park?

They're holding the '08 game in Yankee Stadium because it's its final year. PacBell is a great choice as it hasn't had one yet. I don't really care about alternating.

I never called Candlestick by whatever name du jour it had either. It's Comiskey, and Alameda Coliseum, and it was still Jack Murphy until they opened *snicker* Petco... hell, I still say Joe Robbie.

We should have it in the Metrodome before we get our new stadium.

All that means is that qualified DHs get screwed two years in a row.

So, basically Travis Hafner will get the shaft for a second straight year?

Yes, but I bet MLB finds a way to get Barry at the game. I'm not sure playing in the All Star game counts for work-release though.

I think they should start making the All-Star game for homefield advantage in the World Series.

We haven't had one here yet!

Edit: well, since '85, anyway.

Why did they have two all-star games from '59-'62?

Oh ok, like they would ever do that. Whats next, interleague play? Wildcards? Don't make me laugh

As far as I'm concerned, Minnesota hasn't had a "ballpark" since 1982.
