Now somebody has to whine about the fact that Hafner's still not there.

I smiled when I read this at ESPN. The kid deserves to be an all-star more than any other pitcher.

But, in all fairness, they are trying to squeeze two positions into one (1B and DH), so there are a lot of players to choose from. If only he was a little more versatile.

My sister actually heard it from her boss who heard it from his source in the White Sox organization. Then I heard it from my dad who heard it from my sister. That was around 1:30...I was excited the rest of the work day

I'd have picked Omar Vizquel over David Eckstein, but I think he might not even have been available with an iffy hamstring.

I had a feeling this would happen all along. It's still ashame it took this long to get him on the roster.

It's a shame that Justin Verlander and Jeremy Bonderman aren't on the AL roster. Verlander ranks 13th(6th - AL) in pitcher's VORP, while Bonderman ranks 16th (9th - AL). Rogers is the starting pitcher that represents the Tigers, and he's 32nd (17th - AL) in pitcher's VORP (BaseballProspectus.com).
That being said, I'm really glad that Liriano made the team.

it was fun hearing Big Papi explain that he had to get a hold of him in the Dominican through a number he used to sell Liriano a car.

It just irks me that the guy who has played 6 games in the field gets to bump out first baseman. Either let the DH play in the all star game no matter what, and vote on one for the NL, or don't let the DH get voted in when the game is at an NL park. (Yes, I know the pitcher position will always be PH for, but still.)
