GABL OOTP5 Historic (1984) has an opening

GABL (The Golden Age of Baseball) Has an opening in Pittsburgh. We are about a week from finishing the 1983 regular season and 2 weeks from starting offseason free agency and the 1984 amateur draft, a class that has such notables as Mark McGwire, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Al Leiter and others. The Pirates are a young team that haven't had a winning record since GABL's inception year of 1977. They play in the tough NL East which features the Philadelphia Phillies, one of GABL's most dominant teams with a Yankee-esque payroll, as well as the St. Louis Cardinals, another of GABL's most successful franchises. The Pirates have a number of good looking youngsters, some at the major league level, some still in the minors. 23 year old 2B-Steve Sax, 22 year old 1B-Andres Galarraga, last year's 5th overall draft choice, 24 year old SP-Teddy Higuera, 23 year old SP-Ron Darling, 19 year old OF-Jose Canseco, 18 year old SP-Kenny Rogers, 18 year old C-Joe Oliver. They have one of baseballs all time great power hitters in the twilight of his career as well in 37 year old Reggie Jackson. The offense is very young but has a lot of potential. The pitching isn't terrible either. Headlined by 2 time Cy Young Award Winner 31 year old Fernando Arroyo, they also feature consistent 29 year old John Candeleria and 28 year old Ed Whitson as well as 29 year old Scott McGregor. The cupboard is hardly bare. The new GM would have 2 weeks to extend any upcoming free agents and would be able to start to shape the team how he likes through offseason free agency and our impending amateur draft.
