Shouldn't we all be getting a beta-tester rebate?
I know Marc mentioned a discount for new purchases of the game. He gave discounts to those who pre-ordered. Now, I've got a suggestion, give rebates to all of us who've been beta-testing this buggy software for the last 5 weeks.
The few bucks received from a rebate wouldn't exactly excite me but, the fact the company cares enuf about existing customers who bought this game sight unseen and have had a plentitude of problems ever since would be a token of apology. All this crap about discounting it now throws up a signal to everyone that next time we should all just wait around for about 2 months...probably most of the kinks will be worked out..it will go on sell...and then we can really bag a bargain-basement deal. I swear to God I haven't even played it in 3 weeks because of the assorted bugs. It almost pisses me off that the suggestion is on the board to discount to new customers after I've suffered through the growing pains of this software after paying the full $39.99 for it. I'll say it again...we are conducting the tests now that should have been done last winter on this software that was due for a May release. And to finish on a positive note...if everything is delivered in the next couple patches as promised this game may actually become ok. I do appreciate the fact the company is trying to pick up the pieces. Beats the hell out of what EA does for you. |

Will $3.50 really make that big a difference in your life? I'd hate to be your girlfriend.

while i could personally care less about the $3.50... I could see where it'd be nice if there was a token gesture made to those that showed basically blind faith in Markus and the game. I say blind faith, because unless you waited for the first patch you had no demo to try. I could deal with a $10 copy of the last EHM LOL Come on Marc you know you could do it
especially with a new version do out in the fallOh crap, as soon as I posted that, I realized someone will probably think I was serious. While it would be nice, I know it's not gonna happen. |

No, like I said the thought of a $3.50 rebate doesn't exactly give me wood but, it's just like my feelings about school. It wasn't school that I hated, it was the principal of the thing.
Take care of those that took care of you first instead of going after more revenues. And everyone understands that discounting the software is a promotion to generate new revenues. It's business but, in an arena like this (where everyone communicates up and down the ladder...designers..marketers...beta-testers...end-users, etc) where it's a much closer, if you will, relationship than the anonymous end-users of Madden football (for example) have with EA Sports the loyal buyers should be taken care of first. I think at some point SI will need to make a decision of whether to disassociate themselves from the close-friendly ties and communication channels Markus has developed with his customer base and move into a more distant relationship or, belly up and take care of our every whim. This, obviously, is never going to happen (and no would expect it to), so I see a divorce from the current custodial relationship we the buyer have with OOTP. They are going to get so sick of the complaints and their inability to address all of them and just move on. In 2 years I can see us having to purchase OOTP 2008 at Best Buy/Wal-Mart and have absolutely no input into added features, what we hate, what we like, etc. But, while we have the ear...let's take advantag |

As for the thread in question, there are no rebates on software like this. If you were upset with the product, don't pre-order or buy it next year. In the end, consumers show their displeasure for a game with their pocketbooks.

there's certain people and Zito seems to be in that group that think they need to troll from topic to topic and rip on anyone that doesn't drop to their knees and worship the game

As for worshipping the game, not really. I do admit I enjoy it but I do have issues. I wish it stopped slowing down as you simmed it longer. I wish it didn't use up so much memory. I wish there was a way you could save it whilst creating a league so you could come back to it later (and I really don't like waiting for next year's version for this), and I am disappointed that you can't add leagues as time goes on. So I don't think it's perfect and don't think people should worship it. I tend to get annoyed though with the ranting, the "this game sucks" threads that seem to have no purpose besides venting spleen, and the regular whining about how it's not 6.5. Perhaps I should show more patience. Anyhow Ozzie, thanks for the personal reference, I suppose I'm a fanboy in your book, right? Not that we know each other of course but it's all good.
