Runtime Error! abormal program termination

Hi, perhaps someone can help.

When I attempt to go to the next season this error box comes up and then closes down the game:

Runtime error!
Program c:\Program Files\OOTP4\OOTP4.exe

abnormal program termination

Once clicking the OK box it closes down. I was able to proceed in my other league with no problems. This one for some reason does not want to advance. I attempted to reset the league and run it a bit and proceed. Same deal.

I am using 2000, have plenty of memory and hard drive space. Is there a way I can perhaps salvage the team data and move it and the free agents to a new league and see if that works? This was not a crucial league, but it might spell the demise of the Independence league (if anyone is reading my reports in the dynasty forum).

Could messing with the schedule or players have any part in the cause of this problem?

I hope I have included enough information.

Mike

Have you deleted any files recently within the game folder?

Were you running a bunch of stuff when this happened? Have you had any crashes before?

Nope,

In fact I had less things open than I have had in the past. Never have had any problems of this nature before.

How did you edit the schedule? Did you change the number of teams in the league by chance?

Steve,

I basically put the schedule in by hand. Since I was running a single league (only 6 teams, in division) i decided to add a play off at the end for the best teams, so i added games towards the end of the season and just deleted the games no longer needed.

Just now I did a complete reset, release and draft of the league, made a short 80 game schedule, then stopped the game and tried to move to the next season but no go.

I am going to try copying all the data files into a new league and see if perhaps i can trick it into working.

I will let you know what happens.

Not sure that the game will work probably with the setup as you are arranging it.

Steve,

I think something might have corrupted the League file.

I made a new league and took that league file and copied it over to the original league... Moved to the next season and it worked with no problem at all.

I am far from a technical person, but I would guess that league file corrupted somehow?

I could send it to you if you guys wanted to look at it to see what might have happened?

Let me know and I'd be glad to meanwhile. I am going to carry on.

OH NO!

I think I just deleted the file in question.. I hope you didn't want to see it that badly.. But if this does happen again, I will be happy to pass along the file for you if you guys want it.

usually it's best to restart your computer if you have an error before you try to open the program again.
