Managing a franchise in historical mode
Just curious, how many folks actually take a franchise in historical mode and try to manage it through the years and decades.
I thought about taking the Yankees beginning in 1903 and seeing if I could match their feat of 26 world championships through the next 100 years, or taking on another legendary franchise like the Dodgers, Cubs etc. Usually, in my historical sims I just create a league and watch it develop. This would be something different... and a good way to learn some more baseball history |

I do. I love historical "what if" leagues, so I usually start in 1903 with an inaugrial (?) draft, then take over the Yankees with whatever they ended up with. I do amateur drafts, so players dont always go to the same real life team. I set all rosters and lineups and whatnot, then sim a week. Then I check out all the stuff like injuries and transactions for the rest of the league. Rinse and repeat.
Like you said, it is a great way to learn some baseball history, especially some of the little known players. There is a story behind almost ever historical major leaguer Last edited by Nukester; 07-02-2006 at 04:43 PM. |
