Please clarify something for me

Is the OOTP Baseball 2006 game that just came out the next step up from 6.5? I could be wrong on this, but I thought I read some time last year the next version was going to be called OOTP7.

I'm thinking that OOTP 2006 is the next one because this board has been pretty dead lately, but I'm not 100 percent sure.

Thanks.

Early on there was no certain title, but OOTP 2006 is the newest version of the game.

Yes, OOTP 2006 is the next step up from OOTP 6.

It was previously named OOTP 7, but they changed the name.

However, OOTP 2006 is a complete rewrite - no lines of code from V6 were carried over. This also means that certain features that were in OOTP 6 have no made the cut from OOTP 2006.

The interface is completely different, and the focus of the game is different as well. OOTP 2006 is now a "global" simulator, where you can add international leagues wherever you want. However, adding this functionality seems to have taken away from other parts of the game, including AI strength and basic functionality.

Personally, I prefer 6.5 and many others do as well, but it is up to you.

Does the complete rewrite mean I can't transfer my current league into OOTP 2006 if I decide to go that route someday?

You can transfer most things. I'm not sure of the specifics, but do a search and it'll show up.

IIRC Stats and ratings and all the essentials carry over, but certain things like league history do not.

I'll check it out further and see what I can and can't do. Judging by the reviews so far, I'll probably wait for a more polished version to come out before purchasing.

Thanks for the quick responses guys!
