Please Dump the SI Interface
This interface is a computer draining nightmare. I love to listen to music on my computer while I play games. I can play graphic intensive games like Runescape and listen to music on windows media player. However, whilst runing WMP and playing OOTP at the same time things slows things down to a crawl. I love all the new features of the new game but is it absolutely necesary that we use this new interface? May we try an interface that is a little more user friendly?
I play on a laptop and would like to hear from other laptop users. Maybe my experience isnt the norm. Last edited by bababui; 06-15-2006 at 06:35 PM. |

The slowing might actually be due to the processor use problem that they think they have fixed for patch 2. I can play CM and EHM while listening to MP3's or downloading torrents or whatever, but OOTP slows way more than those games.

I don't know that it's necessarily the interface. I have a feeling it's just an engine that isn't finely tuned yet.

I've had similar problems in the past with playing music and FM at the same time, but I haven't tried it with OOTP... My computer is neither a laptop nor a beast, though

Should be a result of the processor drain. I thought the interface was unbearably slow, too...until it magically worked the way it was supposed to once - no idea why. Ran fast, and PbP was lightning quick. Hopefully remedied in Patch2.

I have problems with switching between the game and the internet, it takes forever to load from one to the other.

My computer runs OOTP and WinAmp just fine. I do have a recent computer though with upgraded RAM.

Have you checked the task manager to see what is maxing out? Is it RAM or CPU? Both are usually in short supply on a laptop unless it is fairly recent. Also, just make sure you do not have anything running in the backround. Have you tried doing this is Windowed and Full Screen?
Just some random thoughts, maybe one will help you. |
