CALVIN COOLIDGE - U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, 1918-present

Renowned for his honesty
Ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Massachusetts against P.J. Kennedy in 1916
A woman who sat next to Coolidge at a dinner party once bet that she could get him to say at least three words. Coolidge didn't even look at her as he said "You lose."
His political philosophy is one of laissez-faire toward business
Proponent of spending cuts and reduction in taxes across the board
Has argued for federal farm relief, allowing the Federal Government to purchase agricultural surpluses

It would certainly have been an interesting twist. I don't really know what I would do.

I'm really surprised that Coolidge is getting all the support that he has. If I had predicted the outcome, I would have ranked them La Follette, Bush, Coolidge, Smoot. Looks like I'm as good at predicting politics as I am at predicting baseball
