Why does my 2B not have a rating at 2B?

I have a few players, one of them being a secondbaseman, who don't have a rating at their primary position. For instance, when viewing the player's info, their position is listed as "Second base," but the middle column only lists a rating at First base. Why is this?

On a somewhat related topic, I had a 3b who lost his rating at 3b come playoff time, and then it came back the next season. Very strange

Knoblauch lost his rating at 2B but never regained his. Your 3B was lucky.
