PbP bugs

Here are some PbP bugs that have missing lines. All the missing lines are the second line in the at bat and are occuring while simming the at bats using the patched version of the game.

"XXX will be digging in"

"XXX is up at the plate"

"XXX stands in"

"XXX is now up"

XXX is the name of the player. I'll send more as they occur.

cork55,

I'm sorry for the slow response to this thread. I'm not quite sure I understand what you've posted, though.

What exactly are you saying is missing?

Thanks,

Steve

I'm not positive, but occasionally the pbp will come up with something like
Bob steps up to the plate...

Jim from the windup...
etc...

The space with no text. Kind of weird to see it... I never noticed it was with only several lines though but it may be.

OK, thanks tysok. I'm still looking for a little more solid info to go on before I bring this to Markus' attention, though.

I'm pretty sure this is about a few places in the PbP where a blank line was being inadvertently inserted between two lines of the same call. These glitches were taken care of a while ago, and the problem will be gone after the next release of an updated XML file.

Might have spoken a little too soon. I have come across a blank line in PbP messages that isn't the result of an error in the database.

The line that tells how many outs there are in the inning is generated from within the game. I'm seeing that when this line begins with "no one out," it is preceded by a blank line that (I assume) is embedded in the code.

I'll put this into TT as a cosmetic issue.

These are the phantom line errors that appear. An example would look like this.

John Doe will be digging in...

Hits a routine grounder to short...
Joe Schmoe has it and fires to first for the out.

The game inserts a blank line between various snippets of PbP. Nothing major, but it is nice to know that this has been fixed.

Well, some blank lines have been fixed, and others have been brought to Marc's and Markus's attention because they don't seem to be caused by errors in the XML file.

I thought the problem has been fixed, but tonight I noticed some of the same errors in the PbP of a game I played. In all these cases, the mysterious blank line pops up after a line from the "batter up" category, which I think might be a clue to its origin.

I have entered this as TT #2043.
