How do you scout a nation?

Looking at the directions in the manual, there should be a scout button on the bottom right of the Nation profile screen. I have scouting set to full but i don't have that button there for any nation, whether they have a league or not. Can anyone give me guidance on what I am doing wrong?

I have the same issue, I am using lahamn's db so that might be the issue for myself.

Hmm... are you sure you have complete scouting option checked? did you go to your personnel section and make sure you have scouts? other than that, i'm out of ideas.

Thanks, yes to both of those questions. I do have scouts and am able to scout players, teams and leagues, but not nations. I think I will create another league to see if its a problem with this league. This will be the 4th league I had to start....

Are you actively managing that team? If not, you will not see the scouting buttons. I had the same situation. You have to have control over the team or act as that team.

Yessir. I am the manager of the Braves and thats the only team I use. I am in commissioner mode tho. Does it need to be off? I will check but that doesn't make sense. Thanks for your efforts....

Probably not the problem but you cannot scout a nation that has a INT level or ML level league based in it.

MLB being based in the USA means no scouting of the USA
NPBL means no scouting Japan
etc..

You can be in commissioner mode it should not matter. As long as you are the manager and there is not a INT or ML level league based in the nation you want to scout you should be able to scout it.

I actually sat one day and tried every single nation, none worked. The option never appeared.

I don't see the option in any league I create so I think its user error. Can someone please post step by step what I need to do to scout a nation. I hate this new UI. I am thinking about going back to 6.5.

I'm sorry for the horrendously late response to this thread.

Most of my thoughts have been covered here, but here's the story:

In order to scout nations, you must have the following:

1. During league creation, the Create and Maintain Hidden Players checkbox must be checked, or else there will be no scouting of nations.

2. You must actually be the manager of the team.

3. There must not be a league based in the nation you wish to scout.

I'm guessing that #1 might be the issue. To check this:

1. Open your game
2. Go to Game --> Game Setup
3. On the left side of the screen, look for the checkbox that says "Create and Maintain Hidden Players." It will be grayed out, since you cannot change it after the game starts. But, is it checked, or no?

Actually, it must have been a league setting. I hadto restart my league and it worked fine in the new league. I think it was some kind of bug, because I did everything the same.

It is greyed out and unchecked.....
In the league where it works, it is checked.....

I think you may be onto something.... :-)
