CRASH - OOTP.EXE has encountered a problem...

All,

I have a bit of a problem. I'm in my second season (6/2/07 is the date).

What I did:
After the second amateur draft, I was pruning the scrubs out of the minors and attempted to sign a few minor league free agents. Now I am unable to advance to the next day. When I hit "Continue", it errs out after reaching 100% (tried about 5 times).

Error: "ootp2006.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

Upon entering the savegame:
Upon entering, I select Human Manager (myself) and then select "continue". I crash at that point.

Will upload the savegame if you'd like.

Specs
System - P4 2.8Ghz, 768MB Ram, running WinXpSP2.

I don't have any issues with a any other save. Unfortunately, I only have one save from the league I was playing......

I hope you figure this out...

It sounds like the type thing that was happening to me. In my case I never could continue the game from that point and had to delete the league and start again. I have removed the game from my computer and hope to try again after the patch. I continue to be astounded by the instability of this game and can't see how blatent things like this ever got past beta testers.

While I understand your frustration, I just want to help in getting problems like this fixed. Guys, anything that I can do, please let me know.

blatant with your system specs, but with hundreds of different systems you can't get all of them
I've had the same crash happened after I started a league got to April 1 and minors aren't filled. (Found and corrected bug. Yeah ).
Waiting for the patch I tried to create an entirely fictional league and the game crashes. No matter what type I try. This was also noted by F Montoya and reported.
Don't worry if you've never tested software its a daunting task and the game may run fine on your machine and crash on mine. I see issues and you don't. Its a huge undertaking.

Understand Tim and appreciate your comments. My computer is nothing unusual, just a stock DELL with Windows XP, a Pentium 4 with 2 gigs of RAM. Pretty vinilla I say. Do you think all DELL's mass produced machines are all different?

Exclamation CRASH - OOTP.EXE has encountered a problem...

(note, this was posted already in the 'experiencing crashes?' thread, but I thought I'd repost since the patch did not fix it.)

repeating, predictable crash
<HR style="COLOR: #cb9f5b" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->every time I try to advance to the next day, the game crashes right away. If I set the game preferences to save daily, then it will crash, EVERY TIME, when the status bar is at 92% (updating news).

this happens on both my laptop and desktop, and all they have in common is that they are running windows xp w. SP2.

the league is a brand new fictional league (24+ teams), with minor leagues and some INT leagues. I've finished the initial draft, and have been singing free agents and making trades since. It is only day January 23. I believe that I have no free agent offers out, but do have 3-4 trade offers that the AI must process.

I have the error log saved, and can upload the save game if you would like... just let me know exactly what you need.

Yup, my save game is still experiencing the same issue. Not able to advance to the next date. Game date is 6/2/07 (year 2 of league). Will upload save or do anything else required to resolve this issue.

I had previously opened a thread on this here:

Thanks,

This issue has been logged, as TT# 1745. Please hang onto the save games, if possible, while we figure out what to do...

Thanks!

OK, I merged the two threads, just to make life easier on us. Hope this helps. I changed the thread title as well, to make it a little more clear.

Thanks...

Bah, now I've got one too. Mine I'm about 15 years into the league. It won't advance through the amature draft. It's crashed about four times in a row now. I can provide the save gave if necessary.

I'm running Win98.

I encountered this problem last night after completing one season of a league. The game then proceeded to crash at the start of the second season. A careful examination of the teams revealed that my Rookie league teams (I am only using AA and Rookie league minor leagues) were almost completely empty of players.

I tried filling the teams with fictional players and letting the AI manage all teams (I had not taken a managing job yet) but the crash still persisted. My solution to this was to recreate the league and run it with spring training turned off. This has worked like a charm through 6 seasons. I started a historical league and then edited the league to add my fictional teams. I also edited the Arod/Garon DB files to remove all players before 1984. This allows me to start with no prior stats. I have the rookie draft turned on and so far everything works.

The rookie draft each season is around 5-6 rounds and seems to use all the rookies listed in the rookies draft text file.

So in summary, try turning off spring training and see if that helps your leagues.

dola, yep, Markus claims this is fixed. Since he has your league file, I'm going to count this as tested, and move it over to the Claim Fixed forum.

Thanks!
