Do split schedule seasons work?

I must admit, I've passed the half-way point in the season without seeing anything: at least an acknowledgement in the news would put my mind at ease before I play the next 81 games!

OH, and read my thread about equivalencies - am I off base?

Just to be clear, if a team wins the division in the first half but if its overall record is lower than a non-division winning team, it doesn't qualify for the playoffs?

The team finishing second in the second half qualifying for the playoffs should only happen if the same team wins the division in both halves.

In one league of mine, Marseille finished first both halves and the second place team, Lyon, was second for both halves, but they still played each other in the first round of the playoffs. Is this how split seasons are supposed to work? I guess I thought there would only be a playoff if there were two different winners for each half.

In another league, four(!) teams finished in a tie for the first half and the teams with the two best overall records went to the playoffs. I guess I don't know the rules on tiebreakers here, so maybe this was handled correctly, but I wonder how the game decided who the first half winner was?

BTW, these leagues started before the patch was applied and finished after the patch, so maybe that's the problem? I'll have to sim another season to find out.

This is how it works in most leagues IRL, they still want the playoff revenue.

OK, I guess I should have looked up how split seasons work first.

I'm still uncertain if split seasons are working right.

In one league of mine, at the midway point of the season, two teams were tied for first in one subleague and one team had sole possesion of first place in the other subleague. The first half winners were the team in sole possesion of first place and the THIRD place team in the other subleague. The two teams tied for first not being the first half winner must be a bug, right?
