Game crashes

When I try starting the game I get an illegal operation OOTP4 caused an invalid page fault in module OOTP4.EXE at 0167:008a8beb.
I am totally at a loss when trying to fix things[need directions on what to do!!!].I see in previous posts saying unlicense[How?}game,move files{?}Delete gamefiles{don't want to do that,bing I don't want to lose my leagues}.
Any HELP on what to do??

Need more information on what you've done recently prior to the game not opening up.

Have you deleted a league recently? Have you had other crashes while the game was open?

Provide as many details as possible.... and there is a chance that we'll get enough information to prevent you from having to do a full reinstall of the game.

No other problems with game before this.It some times loaded slow,but it would work.

Did you have any crashes while saving or has the game locked up, etc?

No problems..used the game one day before,went to use it again and it shuts right down now.

Have you run scan disk and defrag recently? Can you tell me how much RAM and free HD space you have?

no on scan disc\defrag...128 RAM...5.8GB free on Hard...

You might wanna try running both of those then try the game. Also, if you have other programs open at the same time, with the amount of RAM that you have it is possible that you need more and that is why the error.

OK...Ran Scan Disc&Defrag...shut all other programs down and got the same invalid message...I still have my old version of OOTP3 on the computer,tried that and it worked fine...So it this problem in my ootp4 then??

I wouldn't think it is the game itself, although something could have corrupted the one of the files. You can try just installing v4 to a different directory and trying it. More than likely it is something with the league file that the game is trying to load I would imagine.

ok,just unlicensed[got order ID# written down]I am now DL the ootp4 set-up file.So

1]What do I do with my "old" ootp file?[it is in program files]
2]How do I save my leagues I had been using?
3]Where do I put the "new"file?

I would just leave the old one for now, put the new one wherever you want. No right or wrong place. The leagues are find, nothing happens to them when the game is unlicensed, it's just that NOW OOTP cannot be used. Till you reinstall and license it. Then just copy the league folders over to the new location and see if it works.

...Update...Install went fine,put game right to C:drive....opened up just fine.and all is well...Couple more things...

1]"old"ootp4 was in program files..How do I get my existing leagues into the new game?
2]after I get leagues moved,do I delete my "old"program files copy?
