A Couple Bugs and Suggestions
Bug No.1
I got this message on April 1st that tells me several minor league teams don't have approriate players. I manually found the teams (using the search feature) and created fictional players for them. Several teams later, I got irritated and created fictional players for ALL teams on the respective levels. Then finally I got to move on to the next day. Guess what? It happens again. The same teams that did not have enough players told ME to fix that problem again. (I'm not even the manager of those teams!) I created fictionl players for those leagues again. Guess what? It happens on the next day again! I got suspicious and went to that team's TRANSACTION panel. And I found out why their minor league systems were empty. Their AI GM somehow called up ALL minor leaguers from those minor league teams with this problem to their major league teams, resulting in 250/25 players on their Active Roster. Luckily this occurance got fixed after the Opening Day. But please don't tell me this is NOT a bug. And yes, it's irritating to try fixing this problem from April 1st to April 3rd so I can move on to the next day. ===== Bug No.2 I created a few Taiwanese players and put them on my team. (I'm a Taiwanese native.) Then I tried to search for those players in the league TRANSACTION panel, under ALL PLAYERS section, with the filter set to find players with "Nationality" is "Taiwanese." Guess who came up? None. Zero. I think there's something wrong with the filter. Oh yeah, I tried to find other stats using the filter and it worked fine. Just the Nationality doesn't work. ===== Non-bugs Other than the "bring-back-the-star-ratings" cries, which is also on my Wishlist, I have some fine-tune suggestions below. 1. It's a pain to find certain players. You know, the ratings AREN'T precise, so it's best to search a player under his name. However, using the filter, you have to enter the EXACT spelling to find that player. And if you forgot that spelling? For some names like Gurrachaswskiwhatever? You need to go back to the previous page and pray that you remember why you wanted to search for him. 2. Well this continues from point #1, but I think I better separate the points. For example, on the First-Year drafting day, you want to find a high school right fielder recommended by 3 out of 5 scouts Top 5 list. And his last name is...well, make it Tettleton. If you don't think switching between Manager News (you have to find the exact news from a huge list too!) and the Drafting screen is too much trouble, then keep changing the filter details surely IS. So basically I have to WRITE DOWN the names, positions of the rookies ALL my scouts recommended on a piece of paper, cross-examinate to find the players they have in common, to avoid going back and forth between the pages if I don't want to use the RECOMMENDED BY HEAD SCOUT function. THEN I need to change the filters to manually search for EVERY rookie I want to draft, because turning to the page that contains Tettleton from 300 right fielders just give me a plain headache. My point is, if there's still a computer game on 2006 that asks you to use pen-and-paper, it's not very user-friendly. 3. Every time you look at some info, for example, take a look at a player's info, and jump back to the previous screen, the list of players go BACK to the top. You'll have to scroll down AGAIN to find out where you were at. This makes it hard to navigate, stop to take a look at a player, then pop right back to where you were. It's not a major problem, but don't you think game interfaces should be more user-friendly? 4. After trading for a minor leaguer, you need to FIND the guy you just traded for and manually "DEMOTE" him to a team. It took me a while to find those guys. Also, DEMOTING a minor leaguer you traded for to a Triple-A team doesn't seem to be a good choice of...err...wording with that command. 5. Pitch-by-pitch selection means nothing if there's no Strong pitch vs. batter weakness spot system in it. I got bored after a few batters and turned to simulate the whole at-bat at a time. Throwing velecity means nothing if you can't manually choose to bring up the heat in order to strike out the batter (and works better than a "normal" pitch). But I guess it's too much to ask for in this version. Make it a future wishlist. (Or if you wanna hire me for future version designing? )6. Projected numbers by the end of the year...it's missing.
