OOTP Ignoring Mousepad Clicks?

I'm running OOTP on a laptop that is configured to acknowledge taps of the trackpad as mouse clicks. They don't seem to be registering within OOTP, though. Anyone else notice this?

When it gets choppy, after about 20-30 minutes of gameplay, it won't register many regular mouse clicks for me. I have to click and hold. If I tried my touch pad, I don't think it would work.

I've had the same problem with my mouse in Football Manager for a long time ... perhaps the two problems are related, as I have the same trouble now in OOTP2006.

I have had this problem when trying to click on the back and forward buttons, I'd love to be able to configure my mouse so that I can just press the forward and back browser buttons on my mouse instead of doing it on the screen

I've had better luck since I switched my menus from Use Style Set to Auto-Open. Makes me wonder if skins have something to do with the problem ... I use a skin for FM as well.

It's a little better but it's still not registering all the clicks when using the trackpad. Things are fine when I actually use the mouse button, but clicks from the trackpad are hit or miss. It would appear to be an OOTP issue since the trackpad clicks register in other programs.

I feel like it gets worse the longer my playing session is. But that's a subjective observation.

Long time no discussion here, but we've still been unable to either prove or rule out this issue. Do you still see the issue in the latest version of the game?

Bear in mind that clicks while the computer is processing heavily (auto-play, etc.) can be unresponsive even with a regular mouse.

I'm more concerned about the mouse clicks being unresponsive even when the CPU isn't doing anything.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I confess I haven't cranked up OOTP since the FM2007 demo was released (awaiting arrival of game from UK), so I don't have anything new to report. OOTP is the finest baseball game around for what it does, but Football Manager is the finest game period, so I'm afraid I'll be busy for awhile :-).
