I don’t get it.
As a long time OOTP fanboy I am trying not to be negative with this new version, but frankly the more I play the more frustrated I get.
Some things in this version simply don’t make sense to me as a lifetime follower of Baseball. It appears (and please correct me if I am wrong) that I can from my roster screen take a look at what all of my batters hit with runners on first and third and an 0-1 count. (along with a myriad of other situations) However I can NOT tell what he hit overall for the previous season. In my lifetime I have never heard a baseball person of any sort use information as detailed as the runners and count example, but EVERYONE uses previous years stats. I am sure that there are some statistical nuts that love the level of detail, but at the expense of the basic stats, this makes absolutely no sense to me. |

Hmm. It does seem there should be one more pulldown (between scope and split, maybe) to choose between current year and previous year.

Hmph, yeah. Well, I'm sure they'll throw that in on the patch. Did you mention it in the tech forum?

I'm not sure what you're talking about...previous season stats are right on the player's opening page when you click on it from the roster. Or do you mean the splits from previous years?

I think that he means being unable to see the stats from the roster page, not the player's profile page.

And if you look near the upper right hand corner of that page, you'll find a way to quickly scroll thru all of the players on the roster screen.
In most cases, we have as much info (if not more) with this version than in past version. You just have to learn where to look for it. |

yes if I click on each and every player I can get previous years stats. for that matter I could calculate it myself on a piece of paper and pretend it is 1977 all over again.
what I am looking for is a single page where the stats for the entire year are listed so you can take a look at your team and see - oh yes my SS is crap he hit .220, I need to address that, etc. This has been a standard in baseball sims going back at least ten years (and in all previous OOTP versions) not to mention far less sophisticated products like Baseball Mogul. This is a GLARING omission. |

Or you could go to your team history page. Click on the previous year.

Wow, I must really be used to the new interface because those OOTP6 and Baseball Mogul screenshots look downright ugly to me...

Actually....this is something that ootp has always driven me nuts with. My first baseball sim was high heat 2001, and on your roster screen there you could pick any year, or career totals, and sort, allowing you to easily see who your best players were from any season (of those still on your roster) and to see who were your active leaders in whatever stat you wanted. I really wish that the ootp roster screen would allow you the same options. Given the way Markus is now storing the stats in the db, this should be pretty easy to allow....

For everyone else: I don't agree with the whiny tone of some of the first-reaction posts, but it is a legitimate issue when information that a lot of people will typically want at a certain place in the game isn't easily accessible from that point. Of course previous season numbers are available in the game, this was just a matter of how easy it was to flip back and forth between current and previous season stats from a spot where a lot of people would want to do that--the roster. It's a small, simple thing that I'm sure was just missed in the crunch to take care of a lot of other things. Now that it's been pointed out, it will soon be taken care of. There was no need to get worked up. I think the new game is a big step forward, and while there's room for additions and refinements in some areas, I for one can't imagine going back. |
